Onboard photographic permission
A new one this for me – on a return from Salzburg to Gatwick, in the cruise welcome announcement: please refrain from filming or photographing other people without their permission. I wondered if the cabin crew had a bunch of consent forms to hand🫣

not sure what you mean by cruise welcome, do you mean the PA done by the senior cabin crew member just after takeoff?
it's definitely not standard ba. i wonder if this was just an ad-hoc one on your euroflyer flight? it hasn't been standard on euroflyer before either.

Wonder if someone saw a YouTuber or wannabe one making a nuisance of themselves and told the crew.

apologies – I meant the crew’s welcome given during the climb out.

Hmm. Not sure how I feel. Obviously I am of no note to regularly have a camera shoved in my face, but airports/aircraft sort of blur the line for me on whether 'public' or 'private.' Per the username I also often cruise and wouldn't object to being 'captured' on film in the passing. I also have no objection to people being photographed and shamed for abhorrent behavior such as bare feet on the bulkhead, clipping toenails on a lounge table etc.
I do see value in having experiences filmed and 'YouTubed' to help make informed choice.
Ultimately I should defer to the policy of the carrier whether I agree with it or not, but, not all that sure it's "something that needs to be said" - if an individual is causing a particular problem, they should be tapped on the shoulder and spoken to, rather than a blanket announcement.
If I worked for an airline (or any public facing role), I'm not sure if I would/could object to being filmed either. Most prominent YouTubers blur faces unless the crew have clearly consented to appearing.

I think it shows what a sorry state the world is in when announcements like that are deemed necessary.

The thing I don’t get about these kind of announcements is that the people who are going to be aggressive towards crew aren’t going to listen to the announcement. It doesn’t stop the abuse. The people who will listen to it and agree with it are the people who never were the ones going to be abusive in the first place.

I never understood why anyone would want to film/picture other customers. I am appalled when i see some youtube bloggers blatantly showing crew/pax. When I travel, one of the reasons for choosing F is to stay away from people and commotion so i can focus on what i need, and having someone like this on my flight i might even consider asking to offboard myself as it's just disruptive to the point of being impossible to work or rest.

I agree with FlyingCruiser - I enjoy YouTube flight reviews, they’re a valuable and sometimes entertaining resource. As long as customers or crew aren’t directly being filmed, and if they are caught on camera, their faces blurred, I don’t see a problem.
Being discreet is key, don’t bother other passengers or crew. Top of the voice shouting to the camera isn’t okay, filming the seat and experience in a non-disruptive manner, completely fine in my opinion.

I loath being photographed or filmed and step out of the many 'optional' (but apparently obligatory) occasions for group photos on tours, meetings, conferences etc.
To think that someone would video me on a plane and then post it on the internet I find very offensive.
I don't mind the back of my head in a photo of a lounge, or as a passing head in an airport concourse. That I think is 'in public' and fair use. But inside a plane is not.
We all know there are some people who just don't care about this, either as subjects or content creators. But if the crew are to be able to protect me and themselves from this, unfortunately it may mean such an announcement is necessary. I have never heard it on BA, but I have heard it on several other airlines already.
