Just been emailed. Status retained?!

Just got emailed that I’ve retained Silver status. Which is odd because I credited all my flights this past year to finnair. I think I literally finished the year with 128 tier points.

It’s not a drop from gold, I was silver last year too.

anyone else renewed with such a huge gap?

I've just had an email saying I've retained gold for another year (I've been gold though a partner card and was expecting a soft landing to silver.)

How long before the email arrives saying that it was all a mistake?

But the status levels will be roughly the same under the new scheme! Can't you (expletives deleted) get your heads around it??

Not me, but someone in my household which I gifted my last Gold to share as a GGL also just received an email that Gold status has been retained. I myself has not received any email if I will drop to Silver or get an unexpected surprise

Cheers!

I just got the email too, for Silver, despite only earning 4481 tier points last year.
Fingers crossed it isn’t a BA mistake, though that would not surprise me!

If this is an error on BA's part, congratulations - you've just informed BA about it (they read this forum) - giving them the opportunity to pull it, or at least stop more from going out.

Genius.

2,567 TPs last year and no such luck here yet, but when we do big email sends at work, it can sometimes take hours for them all to go out, so maybe more people will get this! I would totally understand BA doing something like this after the frustrations/poor role out last year, it would seem fair to set people off for a new year, at the status they were at, with all the bonuses etc.. clear from the start - this would have made the difference for me putting in the effort to keep status last year. I think they risk really pissing people off, if they send this offer to a significant chunk of customers, but not others though, as well as from those who actually put extra effort in to keep status.

Emails advising status level retained received by my wife (was earned Gold, expecting to drop to silver), 1st daughter was earned Silver but gifted Gold, expecting to drop to Bronze) now email advises Gold retained, 2nd daughter gifted silver, expect to drop to Bronze or Blue but now advised retained silver.

Respective status expiry dates have also updated when logged into their respective BAC accounts so it is not just the email.

Fortunately hadn't used my gift status cards for 2026/27 which if this sticks I won't need to use on 1st May as planned.

Genius.

You should probably mention it to rob over at headforpoints too since they just ran an article on it too. Genius.

Genius indeeed. At least wait a day or so, making it harder for BA to pull the plug if it's an error.
