Lufthansa Cityline is no more

@moderator: this deserves its own thread, please don’t move to some other thread (again) where the death of an airline many of us liked a lot is just a side note. Thank you.

LH has pulled the plug on LH Cityline, effective immediately (sorry, German only):

https://www.handelsblatt.com/unternehmen/dienstleister/luftfahrt-lufthansa-stellt-cityline-ein-mitarbeiter-freigestellt/100217517.html

All employees are “freigestellt” meaning fired. (with a potential but unlikely option to bring them back).

Also all CRJ900 are grounded as well.

I'm wondering what will happen to destinations that are only operated by CityLine, Stavanger for example.

As i understand this is with immediate effect. You will be rebooked on one of the service operated by the main line (if there is any) or via ZRH/VIE. When the rebooking happens ? Nobody knows.

Will let you know on Saturday, I´m booked to fly PRG-MUC on Cityline too. My guess is it will only be switched either to LH City or mainline LH.

Real shame, they were the best IME intra EU, better than mainline or VL.

LH doesn't sell PRG-anymore for next Tuesday. All flights have one stop in either FRA, VIE or ZRH now.

The four daily PRG-MUC flights are all:

The don't have the capacity to take over. It looks like the direct flights will just disappear, at least for now.

Thanks for letting us know, which confirms what I found. What did they offer?

Some seem to get replaced by mainline now, keeping my fingers crossed your doesn't get cancelled.

One of my flights has been changed to Discover (no notification, just saw it when I checked in the app), another one to a LH A321.

MUC-BEG (on CR9) on Saturday also cancelled.

No alternative for LON-BEG on the day (there was an option for few minutes LHR-VIE overnight _ BEG on Sunday)

Now, rebooked (via AI chat, live chat kicked me out) on TK via IST, leaving Friday night instead...

Crap. I'm booked in late May on Cityline PRG-MUC and then onwards to IAD on the Mothership. I have not been notified of any change, and my reservation still shows as confirmed on the Lufthansa website, but it is no longer bookable on Lufthansa's website. Wondering if I should call in now or wait to be officially informed.

Calling likely means a long wait today and tomorrow, due to a LH strike. Would wait at least a few days.
