Menus 2026
Figured a new topic required now we are in 2026
NZ6 on the 4th of Jan
Due to the delay of 1hr45 departing I opted out of dinner although it looked great on paper.
Breakfast - omelette and overnight oats were great.

TPE-AKL Nz78 10 Jan 77W
Flew BKK-TPE-AKL, and then several attempts at WLG - but stuck at AKL overnight. No direct flights until Wed, so flying to PMR and friends getting us to Kapiti.
Packed aircraft in all cabins. Crew completely forgot to take meal orders from rear biz cabin B side (I was 10B), but when I politely asked when meal orders would be taken the other biz crew were right onto it.
Beef cheek was pretty good, although staff forgot my spinach. ISM sorted that out.
The congee for brekkie was always a risk, but it was tasteless as wallpaper paste (those of a certain generation will know!). Not a drama, and Mrs TK and I left ours largely untouched.
Biz<->PE seat swap inflight
Finally, Mr 10J asked fir a 1/2 way seat swap with his mate in PE (I think). Crew initially pushed back but he was really persistent, so ISM was consulted and it was agreed - with much comment about this being a one-off yada yada yada. After a few champers, the mate turned up and enjoyed the meal and around 5 wines. Certainly no disruption, and I slept so well I didnt notice when they swapped back.

Credit where credit is due
As a frequent critic of Air NZ, I have to say that the snapper with crayfish risotto.on NZ 284.(AKL to SIN) was.one of the best J meal I.have had. Great service also!!

AKL -> NRT

Very yummy and lots of flavour, chicken was moist too

I thought it was very plain looking but liked it flavour wise
dinner/before landing

Not usually a venison fan myself but I cant have shellfish

This thing just melted in my mouth, very happy with it

Got recommended the coconut margarita, not bad!
also as a previous complainer about how slow meal service was in the past, its flowed a lot faster and smoother this time around, allowing me to get a solid 4hrs of sleep on a 10hr flight

Looks almost identical to my AKL-SIN flight on 22 Dec. Pity AirNZ doesn't have a pre-order option like many airlines provide...
