The BA "Thank Goodness it's Friday Thread" | 2026

Please find this new thread for 2026 as many post away on their weeks travels and of course the 101 other things which get posted. Of course if your 'Friday' is a different day of the week that's still OK to post!

If possible though can I please ask not to quote any photos in your replies as it clogs up the thread a little and that makes for easier reading too.

Please find the 2025 thread below as well as the original long running thread from 2013-2024 for info.

Happy Friday everyone and hope you all had an enjoyable New Year and that 2026 is good to you!

Now, last night I had a really lovely New Years Day Steak Pie dinner, bought from a proper local butchers shop. It was wonderful to say the least and a Markies Apple Crumble with cream to finish it off. No alcohol as I rarely drink but a nice big coffee afterwards

My goals for this year are to lose a little weight/trim up a wee bit, increase my daily steps from 10k to 15k and go on some some local UK/European trips but I have at least one BA long haul planned already, about to pull the trigger. Other than that I'm living a quiet ish life and enjoying being back to 'retirement' but a little part time job to keep the old grey matter might happen later in the Spring.

Happy new year to all. We are back home from our lovely Christmas break, and back into the thick of it. We had a house warming party on the 30th, and then new years eve was the 14th birthday and new years eve party. My liver needs a dry out. The mornings here are cool damp and foggy, which nobody likes. Just a few weeks to prepare for young miss rapidex next visit. I hope you all have a great weekend,

Happy New Year to the TGIF community and a happy new Friday.

My off work time is coming to an end. Monday back at work. The last three weeks were so relaxing. Just do whatever you want. I think I need to retire but not enough money to do it.

This year my travel pattern will be less than last year so far. February I do a rail journey through Germany. Easter I spend in Vienna. The only flights booked so far are the Toulouse DO, the Vienna trip and my holiday in May. It is still open what I do in Autumn. So far it depends on the NFL gameplan. I'm really think about to go for the Melbourne game.

A combination greeting of happy Friday and Happy New Year to everybody. Last week was a domestic week catching up with family and friends, which was really enjoyable. I have a few flights booked for 2026 so far and will be looking to add to the list.
Tomorrow I shall be heading to Wolverhampton to watch Wolves v West Ham - a real clash of the relegation candidates.

Happy new year all. Looking forward to some inspirational travel tales, some domestic insight and continued frivolity.

We got through Christmas is all I can say. Nothing terrible at all just not relaxing. We are out the other side though as wellness of the outlaws has forced their hand and they now have a live- in carer.

Our other news is that our local parish council has objected to our planning permission request. The basis of the objection seems spurious to say the least. Thankfully the decision is taken at the county level so we hope they will see sense but another month of waiting, we think.

Happy Friday everyone. After a very nice Christmas break with the family, we are preparing to go down to the Canaries for a nice winter break in the sun. So off to LGW tomorrow to stay overnight and fly early on Sunday. Looking forward to seeing whether there has been an improvement in Euroflyer CE meals and service since last time. But even if it is not great… well the cost was tuppence ha’penny and a small dent in the Avios mountain.

And on our return start getting ready to book the next 241 trip to South America in early 2027. And in between that a trip or three for some sun breaks around Europe, but probably not on BA.

Well happy Friday, weekend and New Year to everyone. Saying goodbye to the old thread is like losing a friend! After a quiet Christmas my break came to an end yesterday when I ended up in a frozen field on the North Downs overseeing a site commissioning that could have happened any time in the last 18 months but ended up on the last possible day... I need to organise some travel to somewhere warmer. My next trip is a redemption for the skiing/snowboarding next month keeping me on 0nTP but I hope to get something else in before that.

At least it was not snowing.

Genuinely thought it was Thursday until I saw this thread pop up at the top of FT. Always an odd time of year.
Happy New Year to you all, quiet one today at work, but swinging into the new year with a 7am Eurostar to Paris on Monday to see our new hire down there. Busy few days, then next Friday the wife and I shall be sampling the pleasures BA have to offer for our reward booking over to Dubai, looking forward to some winter sun (and cocktails!). Have a good one all

Wow, did someone say 'Friday'? Time is the only thing flying at the moment - since I'm in a no-fly period at the moment, although it's something I'll have to get used to!

The New Year was greeted in - asleep. I suppose it's just getting old, but 1/1 is just a day after 31/12 to be honest (with a big dose of humbug!). However, the New Year did bring some different weather - some snow! Okay, snow flakes where we were, but hill snow - on the Malverns and higher ground such as the Cotswolds, Chilterns, North and South Downs. Good weather for trying to recover some post-holiday fitness!

Meanwhile, settling into post-work life - main competition is now with our daughters dog - we now realise why you need a 3-seater sofa... .

Happy flying all!

Happy Friday and new year! I agree with the feeling that the Xmas break isn't all that relaxing

I've dropped to bronze, even had an email to tell me. I see that I can still use business class check-in, I guess fast track is off the cards though.

Back to Blighty on Ryanair on Monday, at least the passport queues at Stansted shouldn't be that long (famous last words?).

I mentioned cancelling the Amex plat recently... We had a bit of a look around at travel insurance but they've gone through the roof since I last got a quote. It seems that and car hire insurance makes it almost worth it on its own. Back to the drawing board on that one.

Good health and safe travels for 2026!

Happy Friday and Happy New Year to all and sundry! I hope everyone had a good start to 2026? I have been at work all week having got back from the UK on Sunday. It was a decent break, jetlag aside, but we barely saw the sun. I think we maybe had 10 minutes of sunshine during our entire visit.

We did manage a trip to York where I partook in the York Minster Tower Challenge:

Half way up (more or less)

At the top!

We also had a trip down the coast on Christmas Eve where it was a somewhat "brisk" afternoon in terms of wind and temperature. A fair few other hardy souls (fools?) out and about too:

Have just pulled the trigger on late summer flights to Seoul. My wife's cousin is getting married there in early October. We're flying via DFW with AA on the way out, flying CX to HKG on the last of my Avios, and then coming back with JAL to NRT and then AA to DFW and back to Las Vegas. It's roughly $5k in total for the two of us in PE.

Just need to consider where to stay in Seoul, and what to do when we're there! Any top tips or recommendations would be much appreciated!

Missed last week but first to the punch this week. Happy New Year and all that. Greetings from Hong Kong where we have been throughly enjoying a slow few days to adjust to the time difference. We arrived a couple of nights ago on BA J and found the a350 club suite experience excellent. Very attentive crew who even had a Spanish speaker assigned to my wifes side who took time to chit chat in her mother tongue.

Staying at the Park Lane Autograph Collection and its been very comfortable. Fantastic lounge, excellent variety of food and lovely staff. Great location too in Causeway Bay and we enjoyed the SKYE bar last night, albeit we felt a little old compared to the crowd - and we are in our 40s

We have taken it easy so far as Christmas and NY were pretty full on. Our trip to UK was amazing with just one downer that my stepson was violently mugged for the iPhone he had in his pocket just outside London Bridge. He was giving the mugger a beating until 3 other guys joined and hit my lad round the head with a metal bar. We are thankful hes ok but it could have been a lot worse. Police were called and he was checked over by ambulance crew back at the hotel. Id love to say it was a one off but my cousins wife and my friend from Mexico all had their phones snatched in last few months. Sad times.

Outside that it is all positive now. On to mainland China this Sunday! Excited for Shanghai and a few weeks exploring.

Not the best photo but was hard to get closer to the edge to avoid the glass barriers

Happy Friday, everyone! I too missed last week's Friday, as I was busy trying to do... nothing Monday was first day back after taking a week off work to recharge. Turns out the first meeting Monday morning successfully drained all the recharged energy, and we are back to the usual hamster wheel. As they say, same sh*t, different day year

We have booked our usual beach-front villa for a long weekend next week (the one we went to before New Year's) which will be nice - sit back, relax and enjoy the beauty of the sea with a glass of wine.

Other than that, toying with the idea of another long weekend for the week after, potentially flying to somewhere new in China.

Enjoy the weekend! For a change, TTMex will ring in the weekend ahead of me! And again, sorry to hear about your stepson - it is really depressing to see how crime infested Europe, and especially London has become these days
