Help!! Transit thru France June 11--new COVID Rules.

1--Leaving the US Thurs. from RDU in NC through Atlanta TRANSITING THRU CDG Paris on the way to Romania (spouse is a Romanian citizen)

2--We are Pfizer vaccinated. But France just announced that all coming to their nation as of Wed. June 9 must have a PCR Test

3--Does this exclude those only Transiting through the CDG Airport on their way to another country??

4--Where we live the earliest we could get a PCR test is Monday and it takes 3-4 days (or more) to get the results back---probably too late for us

5--Does the 72 hours for the text to be good mean 72 hours before we arrive in France or before we start out frip from NC to Atlanta to Paris, etc.???

5--They do mention an antigen test 48 hours before is ok. Same question: 48 hours before arriving in Paris or before we leave the U.S.??

It's the weekend and here most everything is shut down.

Please help!!!

From US Embassy in France website:
"Either a negative COVID PCR test conducted within the 72 hours prior to departure OR a negative COVID antigen test performed within the 48 hours prior to departure."

OTP is not yet Schengen. You'll want to double-check but you should be able to remain on the non-Schengen area at CDG and, thus, should be following Romania's entry rules for testing and boarding.

You need to check the requirements for France in TIMATIC

IATA - International Travel Document News (iatatravelcentre.com)

As I read it there is no exception for transit pax and the PCR needs to test maximum 72h "before departure from the first embarkation point". So if you have a single ticket to Europe, it will count from the first departure time in NC. If you have separate tickets, it will be from the departure time in Atlanta (assuming that the last ticket is then ATL-CDG-OTP)

This might not be possible, but can you stop in Atlanta for any significant amount of time and do the PCR test there? I'm Atlanta adjacent, and I know there are rapid PCR tests there. Can you rejigger the domestic leg of the trip to go earlier and stop there for a while?

Pls don't mix up rapid/antigen tests with PCR tests. In many (European) countries a rapid test is not a PCR test.

The OP needs to check if a rapid/antigen test will suffice; according to TIMATIC it will not, i.e. PCR test is required.

Typo (I'm booking both too often!). Regardless, non-Schengen rules apply thus Romania's rules need to be met for transit PAX.
