AS122 on Sunday-- Yikes!

AS122 (SEA to FLL) on Sunday looked like it was quite a wild (and long ride) [we had bad weather in the MIA area]. Am I correct that it tried to divert to multiple airports before finally landing in Orlando?

It would have been a lot better if hard alcohol was available on that flight. 🤞🏻

They were lucky to land in FL. Terrible thunderstorms and lots of cancellations and delays at multiple FL airports at that time.

I saw this from the thread on airliners.net about MIA WN ops 4/11/21

Glad they had enough gas!

I've been in Orlando since Saturday. Sunday was definitely rough the whole day, but this being Central/South Florida we're immediately back to 80s and humid. I wonder if the AS terminal also experienced capacity issues that were seen at other terminals at FLL.

Hmm, looks like they held for FLL and then maybe they held to get into TPA? Definitely glad they had enough gas.

Yeah they were definitely in holds, not the missed approach points so clearly ATC knew they weren't going in right away. Glad to see they finally stuffed it into MCO, I am not even sure where the next closest Alaska station is... Austin maybe?

I mean, they can put it down wherever if safety is a thing, but it's much more preferred to go somewhere where you have a ground game.

RDU, CHS, ATL, MSY, probably BNA are all closer than AUS

If the Gulf Coast was more favourable weather wise, RSW.

RSW would definitely fall into the “wherever” category, because it certainly isn’t an AS station

Always enough fuel to hold and divert, hold, divert & then divert. If this was remotely an issue, they would have diverted well before reach Florida.

The second holding pattern is probably Fort Myers (RSW). I added Tampa (TPA) to the map to show it's approximate location.
