20/21 Nov : British Airways flights disrupted by ‘technical issue’

Wife stuck at EWR waiting for BA184 scheduled to depart 20 min ago. An agent comes and refers to a systemwide issue in a vague way - saying “dont worry of your flight being delayed, your connection at T5 will also be cancelled anyway”!! BA app doesnt even show the delay. Any info?

I made a booking about an hour ago and the confirmation email has only just come through. It still won’t load the booking on the app.

The IT must be really creaking tonight!

All (BA) flights from JFK are currently delayed. The announcement in the CCR said the system for dealing with flight plans has gone down...

Seems like 184 departed. 31 mins late. Not too bad.

Ah apologies. I checked Siri and was advised wrongly. Having checked the BA app they are quoting a 8pm departure. I hope it’s solved quickly

Barbados to Gatwick
The early flight was delayed 2hrs 38 mins and just gone
The later flight (mine) delayed with no news

Both arrived on time and are fully crewed.

No worries. Interestingly, my BA app started showing “delayed departure” with no specified new departure time, just says delayed

Currently sat on the BA216 from Dulles, 1hr 20 delay so far and still waiting for Flightplan to be filed by London. Captain has been giving updates every 15 minutes or so but not much else he can do.

Sorry, made the below post in the A350 forum, blaming the brand new airplane, but seems I was incorrect...

On the BA92 (YYZ-LHR) today. About an hour delay, but have been updated by FO and Captain.

The computers at LHR are not feeding the plane electronic flight plans. As the captain said, we are trying to get the computers to talk to each other 😂

And...We are next in line to talk with Heathrow computers captain just said...

You couldn’t make it up... I wonder if it takes much longer if it would be covered under EC261 “computers not talking” directive???

UPDATE: Now 1hr 15 min delayed, and been ready to go, and tried to submit yesterday’s flight plan, but waiting approval. Where is the old and tried 777 when you need them?

The Captain just came into the lounge to explain about the system wide IT issue which wont allow london to provide a flight plan.

He is hopeful but not betting the house on it getting sorted. The crew go out of hours in 1hour 45mins.

But of course its system wide so landing slots going to hard to get as these birds start landing in 6-8 hours time. Some of us wont be flying for sure..
