first as club world
hiya,
My flight back from north Korea has just been changed from 788 to 789.
1. I had paid for club seat selection - assume I will get this refunded?
2. is there any way to make it more likely to get a seat in the first cabin? can I pay? check in early/late/anything?
advise appreciated!
thanks!

Has your seat changed? What has it changed from and to?
This has some information on seat refunds and when they are due https://www.britishairways.com/en-gb...es-and-refunds

If you call up they will get you an equivalent seat. If you prefer, you can do nothing and claim for a refund after travel if you didn't travel in the seat for which you paid.
Getting into the First cabin - which may be left empty - isn't easy, just do a search on Flub to see the various tales here, but the best idea appears to be to check-in online to a suitable CW seat, don't print / app your boarding pass, then perhaps 3 or 4 hours before travel see if you can move to Flub. Or ask at the airport. There is no straightforward method of getting Flub.

No there is nothing you can do to try and sit in F
BA will only open it up for 'FLUB' service if CW is full and they also need space in CW if for example they have overbooked WTP.

ISTR an additional CC member is required to operate Flub, which may complicate matters.

Yes indeed. As would provision of meals. So BA would be looking a couple of days in advance to
(a) send an extra crew member out so they are rested to work te FLUB flight home and
(b) send the right amount of catering on the outbound for the return which has been FLUBed inbound.

I had this on a flight from Seoul and they did not open up the F cabin - I did call in advance and ask if they were likely to be opening it, they said probably not. I also asked at check-in and they said they wouldn't be using it. I guess it's worth asking someone here to check the loads on expert flyer so you can get an idea as to whether they're likely to need to open it. I'd make your seat assignment though on the basis that you'll be in CW.

For interest
Online you couldn't check in to the cabin
When I checked in my bag they said it was closed
On the plane it was open and full 8/8 and they said "London filled it up, it isn't up to us"
it was no problem, we sat in the mini cabin at the front of Club and the food and service were excellent.

Another data point. Just came back from ICN on Monday. Couldn't switch to an F seat online (showing as blocked from the moment the a/c switch was notified, right through to T-2) so checked in at airport into 13A. At check in, they seemed to be selling upgrades to J. My printed BP was pinged at the gate and I was handed a new BP showing seat in F. First time in a new F seat - excellent experience, made even better by a fantastic crew. F cabin was full.
