AI : ARN -> SIN - 1400 EUR in J roundtrip

Spotted on flights:

https://www.google.com/flights?lite=0#flt=/m/02z0j,/m/02h6_6p,ARN,LHR,MAN./m/07dfk,HKG,SIN,/m/0ftkx.2019-09-04.ARNDEL0AI168~DELSIN1AI382*/m/07dfk,HKG,SIN,/m/0ftkx./m/02z0j,/m/02h6_6p,ARN,LHR,MAN.2019-09-20.SINDEL0AI381~DELARN0AI167;c:USD;e:1;a:-3U,-MF,-CZ*-3U,-MF,-CZ;sc:b;sd:1;t:b;sp:2.USD.159720*2.USD.159720

Fairly wide availability in 2019 with decent size (3-5 hr) layover in DEL. Asian leg (DEL<->SIN) is on A321 so no lie flights. Can't comment on quality of AI J nor the facilities offered @ DEL.

Safe Travels,

James

great fare price and even though I am adventurous with countries and airlines, I refuse to fly Air India... I hope we see some matches

Excellent fare! Thanks for posting.

Good lie-flats on the 787s, and AI 321s are bearable for a daytime flight.

Transfers at DEL are a breeze for Intnl-Intnl. Decent enough choices of lounges as a *G J pax: LH Sen/Business, SQ Lounge and AI lounge: I'd recommend SQ for food (though not sure about the timings).

I know it is not premium class, but there seems to be decent AI Y fares CPH-DEL-BKK r/t - all on B788. Layover in DEL outbound was a bit long (6-7 hours as I recall it) but on the return the connection time was short/acceptable.

Priced via Momondo/OTA the are fare was around DKK 3,600

Yeah. What is the most worrying factor for you: service, safety, connection issues?

Flew AI J SIN-BOM-EWR a couple of years ago. Absolutely no complaints. 787 and 77W - perfectly fine.

Both DEL and BOM have nice terminals these days.

It is a ridiculously cheap fare!

Safety, first and foremost. Also worried about lavatories. Google at your own risk

AI also has nice fares to MEL/SYD from all European origins... with frequent 25% off sales in business.

27 years without a significant incident and you're concerned about safety? (And even that was a terrorist attack rather than anything safety related to the aircraft or maintenance.)

It's not fare to cite terrorist attacks from 27+ years ago. That was a different era, when plane hijackings were the norm and expected. Back then countries did not perceive much risk in such incidents and it was only till 9/11 when people realized the potential issues you can have when passengers and luggage aren't properly screened. Since then, security has been beefed up across the board and aside from a handful of minor incidents, is way safer than it used to be.

IMHO the airlines I'm the most worried about flying are MH, KE/OZ and most recently JAL. The former because of the incidents that occurred in 2014 and KE/OZ because of the incidents that happen know and then with the landing phase (I believe a magazine may have done an exposé a several years ago about how airlines in Korea were cutting corners but couldn't find the story). Finally, there have been several stories in recent months about JAL pilots being caught drinking then piloting.

There is a lot to complain about AI - the lack of milage accrual on certain frequent flyer programs and the overall cleanliness of the cabin but safety is not one of them!

Safe Travels,

James

Exactly my point You have to go back even further to find the last major incident for Air India, and that that involved a B707. I agree that safety is the last of the issues i have with AI (whi I generally find excellent value for money).

Still, why on the earth should you fly AI for 1400 EUR with horrible connections in DEL when you can fly ARN-SIN for 1500 EUR with QR pretty much any day?

IMHO it is not fair to exclude Air India Express:Another great example of AI "professionalism":
