Slimline Recaro seats on BA

The new slimline recaro seats (similar to Easyjet) are coming to British Airways.
  • The first 12 rows(in Club Europe and beyond) on the A320s will remain the current, more comfortable seats with headrest and recline,
  • Beyond row 12, the new non reclinable Recaro seats will be installed.
  • All A320s and A319s and A321s will be retrofitted.

Great , we now crawl even closer to easyJet. Maybe we should become their sister airline , i do not see the difference on intra-Europe anymore when comparing BA and easyJet.

Interesting that a distinction will be made between J and Y

What about the seat pitch? It seems odd BA would replace existing seats if they could not squeeze in an extra row.

I thought these seats reclined within their shell rather than backwards so not affecting the passenger behind you.

It would be a good thing if they increased the seat pitch at the front even if they squeezed the back.

But it seems hell of a waste to get rid of those seats. I hope they hold them in stock and replace seats that get tired rather than turfing them.

The only concern is, it doesn't seem fair on some CE passengers if the CE cabin gets really big and some miss out on the better seats. Or would BA limit the CE cabin to the certain row?

Well 12 rows gives you 48 Club Europe seats which I'd say would cover most eventualities.

Where did you get this information from in the first place? First I've heard of it.

It's already 29" on the A319 isn't it? God help anybody sat in those new seats if the pitch is reduced even further.

That means on the A319 also CE/first rows will be retrofitted?
Personally I hate seats with no headrest/flaps.

We have know about the plans to increase the density of seats on BAs A320 family of aircraft, so it sort of makes sense. I hope the current CE seats. Pitch will remain (or improve).

I believe it's 29" as standard across the board. Dropping to 28" soon.

Are these seats more compact than the pinnacle seats? If so a reduction in pitch may not mean a reduction in legroom.

Gasp... On some routes (not least NCE), CE sometimes go beyond row 12 despite popular assumption, so I wonder if it means one will now sometimes have CE with no recline!

They're worse. They are the 'camping chairs' used on LH and IB, and they're awful.

A319s too? What about A321s? I thought the densification (thus I assume the new seats) is about A320s and A321s:

Short haul 'densification'
