Both offer degrees of similar functionality, scaled per degree of subscription cost.
KVS is machine based but requires internet access (can be more than one), whereas Expertflyer is purely web-based (ie no local installation).
Try 'em - I found there are bits of both that I liked, KVS' speed and simple but poewrful interface; vs the convenience of a pure web based application.
Cheers, TK

I've used both in the past but now exclusively use KVS because it is faster and easier to quickly do multiple queries.
And FWIW, KVS also has a limited web-based availability tool for platinum subscribers: http://www.kvstool.com/OC/

Since the OP lists Delta on his profile:
ExpertFlyer shows the medallion/pmu/miles upgrade buckets of V,G,X, and Z, which KVS does not. So if you're mostly interested in upgrades, ExpertFlyer may be the better product.
Conversely, KVS shows award availability for SkySaver and SkyChoice seats, which ExpertFlyer does not. So if you're mostly interested in award tickets, KVS may be the better product.
So if you're interested in both of these kinds of seats on Delta, you may need a subscription to both.

I have KVS and I like it, but the reward info isn't secret.

It is also slightly less useful on CO reward searches, in my experience. Plus it doesn't have the monthly view that DL, NW and CO each have on their individual sites, which can make the searches must faster/easier than day-by-day. It really depends on which carriers you use and what your travel patterns are like.

I have subscribed to both and it seems that I do use KVS more often than Expertflyer especially to check the flight loads. It is just faster to do the searches.
The award availability for OW is somewhat accurate (on KVS) but you need to have BA account as well to check their site as well to get the exact picture. You cannot see LX award inventory on KVS but it is available on Expertflyer.

Interesting. Does anyone know where KVS gets its routing rule info from then? The lack of real routing rule info is my biggest complaint about EF.
