Aeroplan Rewards for July

Good afternoon all:

I am fairly new here and this is my first post. I have a question about reward flights. I am trying to book a flight from Ottawa (YOW) to Winnipeg (YWG) in July. (July 29 - Aug 10th to be exact). I was hoping to fly economy class for 15,000 miles, but all the flights are coming up as Business class at 25,000 miles.

Is this fairly normal for July / Aug? I know it is peak season, but I never expected Winnipeg to be a huge travel destination

Does the website list all the available rewards flights, or would I be better calling the toll free number and booking that way? Would they have access to more flights.

Thank in advance for your help.

Cheers,
Matt

29th AC 1105 has W=1

29th AC AC 479/259 has W=2/3

No go on the 10th your problem is heading back to YOW.

If I may ask, how do you get that information?

There are a few tools available; expertflyer / KVS (Cost) and some others that are (free) I think if you join ANA then you have a rewards tool havent used it som dont know to much to tell you.

I personally use expertflyer and one of the benefits is that you can save as search for an flight and if space opens up you will be notified.

I vouch for ANA's website, its great. You join their FF program and it gives me the information I need. Allows you to select a transfer city too.

I like KVS (www.kvstool.com) because it's quite quick - faster than using the EF website, and half the price ($5/month instead of $10), but Windows-only.

Award space on AC rarely "opens up" in my experience except in special cases (cancellations MAYBE?), but SQ/LH does closer to booking... so this might be useful but ultimately unless you're planning far ahead not worth holding your breath over

However, if you're going to spend 15k miles on YOW-YWG, if you have extra miles, the $ value for points of 25k for J is better than 15k for Y

Yes, you are probably right. I would need to buy about 2000 miles to be able to get the 25k flight, but it may be worth it. If I book a Business Class reward ticket, do I get access to the MLL?

Thanks,
Matt
