Why aren't car rental companies included in the Freddies?

Hey Randy,

I just voted in the Freddies & noticed that car rentals aren't represented there? I just hit President's Circle with Hertz and feel that they've got some decent promos (like 300 "Birthday Bonus" points & rent with Hertz, get a free night at Marriott promo) and some companies, like National, do joint promos (like 25K NW miles with 6 rentals) and Budget (with the 9,999 miles with CO) - granted, they are joint promos - but most of the major car companies now do have loyalty programs & have a loyal customer base (even if they're only offering airline miles)...

And a secondary note - I know there's a category for best website - maybe another category for best wireless website (as some of the carriers are now allowing things like checking in on a blackberry - that sort of stuff is great!)

I fully agree!

I also think there should be some "shame" awards such as "worst promotion", "worst enhancement" and "worst website"

It would also be spiffy to include more air carriers in the voting. I'm not sure why a carrier as prominent as Singapore Airlines is left off the ballot.

Actually Singapore is not off the ballot. Each year we ask each program which of the three regions of voting in the world they would like to appear on the ballot: Americas, EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) and JPAA (Japan, Pacific, Asia, Australia). Singapore has chosen to only appear in the balloting for the JPAA region. While it may be that they have a following here in the States, my guess is that they know it is not likely a large enough base to gather the necessary votes to capture 1 percent of the vote necessary to qualify for the award consideration.

But all air carriers are represented that have measurable frequent flyer programs.
