Thumbs up LGW and the Emirates Lounge

Earlier this week I flew from LGW-CLE, and had the opportunity to use the Emirates Lounge at LGW, as there is no longer a PC there. The Emirates lounge is really nice, and in the morning offers a full breakfast buffet - as well as complimentary cocktails and internet access. It was a nice pre-flight experience, and not located far from the gate (Gate 61). ^^^

Our BF service on the flight (CO 67) was excellent, as always. We had an amazing view of the southern tip of Greenland about halfway through the flight. The captain was nice enough to point things out along the way.

The BF Concierge indicated that the current plan is to move the 777 flights to LHW, and the 757 flights will remain at LGW. She was not sure this would materialize, but that's the plan. She does not think there will be a new PC at LGW , but the Emirates Lounge is a great substitute, at least for now.

Thanks, Continental - for a great flight to and from London, with a great lounge along the way!

I would rather CO not build a new P Club at LGW North - the EK lounge is far superior to any Presidents Club.

100% agree. THe EK lounge at LGW N terminal is far superior to any PC.

I used it last week, really nice way to start a flight.

That trip was in Business First. I looked at the updated chart for lounge access and it looks though we get access to the EK lounge as Platinum members too, any confirmation of that ?

Totally Agree

Spent Sunday morning in the Emirates Lounge before a flight back to EWR. It's the nicest lounge I have ever been in. Cont should use this as the model for all their lounges.

The breakfast was great. My only complaint was that CO5 wasn't delayed long enough for me to see more than the signs for what was about to be served for lunch! They also had really good WiFi coverage throughout the club.

Just curious, does the CRC room (also listed as a accepting PC members) have free WIFI? Any other reports on that lounge?

Based on the fine EK lounge reports here I hope to have the time this morning to check out that lounge after my IRIS application.

Cheers,

Forget about my Question on the CRC club here at LGW.

I am in the Emirates lounge and its absolutely fabulous. If only the PCs were this nice. Not only do they have a full breakfast buffet but they also have smoked salmon, fish, fresh fruit bowls, very nice...Who needs a BF meal after this?

Thanks CO for allowing PC members this luxury via LGW!

Also if you read the comments book at the checkin desk, most of the recent comments come from people traveling on CO flights.

That's not a surprise - as EK lounges go it's not bad, nothing spectacular though!

Completely agree though that it's the best lounge you will get access to when flying on a CO flight The victuals are particularly impressive

I have never seen a DL CRC anywhere with free wi-fi for the non-CRC members. This policy totally sucks!

My CRC card gets me into PCs. Will I be able to access the EK lounge at LGW with my CRC card, flying on DL in BE?

I've been to the CRC a few times at BOS over the last few months, I just asked for a TMobile card at reception and that got me free WiFi

I flew IAH-LGW the other day, asked the grey-coat in IAH if I could access the Emirates lounge upon arrival and she said no. ?? I didn't take the time to go try it anyway, but should I have gotten in?

I'm a Plat on an intl itin, a PC member, a BF customer - will I be able to get into the Emirates lounge on the return LGW-IAH?

Thanks guys...

No upon arrival, yes on return. The lounges at LGW are post immigration so you can only use them when you're leaving the country, not on arrival. If you are a BF passenger you can use the BF arrivals lounge at LGW but ST E+ and PC don't get you in to that one. They Grey Coat should've mentioned the arrivals lounge to you, but I'm not all that surprised that they didn't.
