My thought is to be sure you want to utilize the status match now as it is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Others can speak to the timing during the year of the match.

Because I am in the middle of Marriott Mega Bonus promotion now, and expect to complete everything in May, so I won't start to stay at SPG till June.
But just wonder if I apply the status match on June, will SPG grant 12 months for me to re-qualify which is good till next June, or just give me the 6 months which is left of the year?

I just faxed my request yesterday and just got an e-mail saying they upgraded me to Starwood Plat. That was really fast.

The e-mail said something to the affect that I had to requalify for '08 so I assume it is only good through the end of the year. This means I need to start booking Starwood vs. Hilton but then again I do not want to lose my status with Hilton.

Decisions, Decisions....

If you qualified for '08, your Plat card will likely show an expiry date of Feb '09. ^

It seems that you have only 9 months to re-qualify PLT status, I am really confusing if I apply the status match on June, will I have less than 6 months to re-qualify?

are you sure you just need to re-qualify in 2008? that means your status will be good through 2/2009? you may ask customer rep to confirm it

Happily, you have a much more liberal period for requalification. When comped from March 1 onward, you get platinum status thru the current year, the following year, and thru Feb of the third year. You can stay or not this year, it won't count toward requalification. It's next year that matters in terms of earning it.

Status Match for UK Resident?

Hi All,

Could somebody advise the contact details for a UK resident (a colleague) to Status match to SPG Plat from HH Diamond? I did search but found nothing specifically for UK/EU.

Thanks!

I guess I'm not the only one who's confused... if I do a status match with my Hilton HHonors Diamond, will the *wood Platinum status expire at the end of the calendar year (Dec 07) or a year from when I get it (May '08)? I don't want to waste a OIAL match to get Platinum status for only 6 months. I am less worried about the requalification period as I am going to be staying in EITHER a Hilton OR a *Wood property once a week for the rest of the year. Requalifying shouldn't be a problem.

William, you need to buy glasses to somebody at the Plat Concierge.

I faxed my Marriott credentials, and got an email back that I have been SPG Plat before. Would be nice to know when... Anyway, I'm sure this guy emailing me and William will sort it out.

Need to book my next month's stays, SPG for sure if the match comes through.

It was indeed. Highly interesting to learn of my brief visit to Platinum years ago!

HH Diamond Status Match Question

If I am HH Diamond will SPG match this status with SPG Platinum. If so what is the protocol to request this?
