I'm at $371 spend and today is my last day. Seriously thinking about hitting up the gift shop for a $129 item that will only cost me $29.
I guess this means it was an effective promo.

Terms explicitly prohibit buying gift cards. That isn't to say it wouldn't work, but I wouldn't count on it and obviously you couldn't appeal if the credit doesn't post.

There's not much to be lost by trying a physical gift card purchase, is there? Unless you never plan to spend cash on a Hyatt room ever again
Even if it doesn't end up qualifying for the credit, the cons I can think of are
- gift card compromise/funds drained/you lose or forget about the card forever
- if somehow it codes differently and only earns 1x instead of 4x even when purchased on site
- time spent buying the card, and/or at checkout if the front desk agent doesn't know how to apply it
The overall risk seems pretty low...
Meanwhile, as posted over in the Chase thread there's currently a Grand Hyatt 7% back offer (max $28 rebate) on my non-Hyatt Chase cards.

There's an ongoing "Spend $300 at a Hyatt Regency, save $100" offer! Big increase over past 20% savings.
The fine print states that prepaid reservations will be excluded. Does this mean that Members Advance Purchase rates aren't eligible?

Hyatt Visa Two Chase Offers Worth Adding (Expire March 31)
Just a quick heads up in case you have the Chase Hyatt credit card. I noticed two Hyatt-related Chase Offers on my account this morning that are definitely worth adding. Even if youre not sure youll use them, these offers are often limited and sometimes disappear once a certain number of people activate them.
One of the offers is for Park Hyatt. It gives 15% cash back when you spend $450 or more, with a maximum of $70 back. The second offer is for Hyatts Unbound Collection properties. That one gives 10% cash back when you spend $375 or more, with a maximum of $60 back. Both offers expire March 31, 2026 - read terms/disclaimers Its a good idea to add them to your card right away since Chase offers like this often disappear after enough people claim them.
If you already have a Park Hyatt or Unbound Collection stay coming up, stacking this with World of Hyatt points and the points earned on the Hyatt card makes for a nice little rebate.

I only have the Unbound one, though wouldn't be able to make good use of either one right now, sadly.
If you have any upcoming stays at those brands (I don't) an sometimes-successful tactic is to contact the property and see if they are willing to charge a deposit in advance.

On my personal card my Park Hyatt offer is only 5% up to $70 and I used the Unbound Offer which was 15%.
These were both available early in the month.
On my business card I only had the Unbound Offer which was 15% however it was only added recently.

New Amex Platinum Offer for Hyatt
You can earn $75 back after spending $300 or more on room rate or room charges at select Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, with the travel window running through 6/30/26. A few important things to keep in mind. You need to book direct with Hyatt and pay at the hotel, not a prepaid rate. Room rate and anything charged to the room should count, but its only valid at select properties.
Heres the link to check participating hotels and the full terms:
https://www.americanexpress.com/hyatt-classics-offer
This one looks targeted, so not everyone will see it.
Also, and this is the part a lot of people dont realize, these Amex Offers basically work like limited coupons. Think of it like Amex releases a set number of them. If you see it sitting in your offers but dont actually add it to your card, it can disappear later once other people add theirs. Once you add it, its locked to your card and youre good, but until you do that, its not guaranteed to still be there the next time you check.

Hyatt Offer
So if you see it, Id add it right away.

For the Chase Unbound Collection offer, I took Zorak ’s suggestion and got the property to post a qualifying charge to my reservation before it starts later this week. Received confirmation from Chase today that the credit triggered.
I also have the Amex offer and seems that a prepaid charge may not work but I am able to book a stay within the promotional window so should be good.
