Yes, with the number of properties now consistently pricing over 50k this will make it considerably easier to use the certs.

Great news but highly reflective of the massive points inflation we’ve seen recently.
i wonder if anyone at Marriott’s legal department is evaluating if they can still call them free night awards or if they will need to refer to the certificates as discounts. Particularly 35k awards. Obviously they can still be used in their entirety at some properties but there must be a threshold where it becomes a false or misleading statement.

That’s helpful, but I wish Marriott would make them useable on more than just the most basic room. As a leisure traveller focused largely on upscale and luxury hotels, that restriction severely limits the usefulness of even the 85,000 point certificates - particularly in Europe, where basic room sizes are typically tiny.

If we rephrased this as “We haven’t bothered to index the redemption value of the SNA’s we give out in line with points inflation, so we’re generously allowing our customers to fund more of the ever-increasing shortfall with their own money”, would it still be “great news” ?
