Previous thread is HERE.

$50 statement credit for purchases made at Saks. Enrollment required prior to purchase.
  • This benefit is available twice a year, once from Jan-Jun and once again from Jul-Dec.
  • Use it or lose it, does not rollover or accumulate. There is no "meter" to track how much you've spent. Check your statement for credits.
  • Per AMEX CS chat the transaction date is what determines whether a purchase is reimbursed from the Jan-Jun benefit or the Jul-Dec benefit.
  • Actual experience from 2019: first-half purchase submitted only 6/27, shipped 6/29, went from pending to posted on 7/1 (but dated as 6/29), credit posted on 7/1, was able to use second $50 credit a week or two later
  • Purchases by Additional Card Members (both the $175 Plat-colored and free Gold-colored) will be reimbursed also, but only up to an aggregate $50 per Account.
In early 2026 Saks Global entered Chapter 11 reorganization.

On 01.26.2026 Saks announced that most Saks Off 5th stores will close, but a dozen will remain open:

Saks OFF 5TH Locations Remaining Open:
1. Gallery @ Westbury Plaza (Garden City, NY)
2. Sawgrass Mills (Sunrise, FL)
3. Woodbury Common Premium Outlets (Central Valley, NY)
4. Bergen Town Center (Paramus, NJ)
5. Town Center Aventura (Aventura, FL)
6. Buckhead Station (Atlanta, GA)
7. Miromar Outlets (Estero, FL)
8. Somerset Shoppes (Boca Raton, FL)
9. The Outlets at Orange (Orange, CA)
10. Dolphin Mall (Miami, FL)
11. Palm Beach Outlets (West Palm Beach, FL)
12. Grapevine Mills (Grapevine, TX)

CAUTION: A note about Saks online shipping (particularly if ordering very close to the end of June or end of December):
Online orders do not charge until shipped. Many items are carried in-stock by Saks and eligible for ShopRunner shipping - data points suggest that these will charge and ship quickly.
However, many other items on Saks(dot)com drop ship from the manufacturer. For these, expected delivery dates may not be reliable, are not guaranteed, and orders cannot be cancelled easily.
If you place an online order close to the end of an Amex credit period, there is a risk that your item may not ship (and Amex will not be charged) until after the end of the credit period.

Note on shipping & billing times: If a product shows that ShopRunner shipping is available, it is shipped by Saks and is likely to ship and bill quickly. If there's no ShopRunner option, it is likely drop-shipped from the manufacturer meaning the shipping date and actual charge date will be further out.

Things known to count for the credit:
  • Merchandise purchased in Saks stores or online
  • Physical gift cards purchased in-store
  • Physical gift cards purchased online (min $150)
Things that do not get reimbursed:
  • e-gift cards (these are fulfilled by a different vendor)
  • anything bought at "Saks Off 5th" (however, you can use a Saks gift card at Off 5th...)
  • Paying with PayPal at Saksfifthavenue.com

Yep, I got very lucky. My wife said she'd prefer the navy colored one but was willing to settle for the pink if it meant I could avoid losing $800 worth of GCs (well actually, she also said she would prefer 4-5 Samsonites over 1 Briggs & Riley or Tumi but made an exception on that too so I could use my GCs). Anyway, I was just planning on going in the store and having the cashier place an online order so I was pleasantly surprised.

Thanks I forgot about that location! Looks like it is across the street from TI and Wynn. Typically I avoid malls in Vegas but I can make an exception.

Will have to visit next month to use my credit, assuming they are still in business. Was also at a loss with closure of SF, heisman at Off 5th and lack of online inventory.

Saks is closing their distribution center not far from me. They already closed the area's Saks Off 5th.The only Saks store I see still open in Pennsylvania is in Bala Cynwyd. I believe the one in Bridgewater, NJ is closest to me.

Saks announced closure of 12 more stores by May, though I did not find a list of locations. It is focusing on the luxury segment (didn't it always?) and keeping both Saks and Neiman stores in Bal Harbour, Boca, Miami, Beverly Hills, Houston, Atlanta and Troy.

With Chicago and Las Vegas both closing, I won't be buying any more gift cards.

My plan is to combine the $50 June to December benefit on 2 Platinum cards with my last 2 $50 gift cards.

It's likely in January, 2027 that the Saks benefit may go unused entirely. I realize Chicago is not Beverly Hills, but if their plan is to maintain focus on high-end luxury goods, pulling out of Chicago really surprises me.

The Neiman Marcus Chicago is staying open, and far more Neiman locations are staying open nationwide. I imagine there are many factors, aside from sales volume, that enter into the decision to close specific locations. It will be interesting to watch how they position the Saks vs Neiman/Bergdorf brands going forward. At some point their gift cards may become interchangeable.

Yes all of us West of the Mississippi are totally [screwed]. Zero Saks or NM retail stores except for Beverly Hills & Newport Beach. Will use my last $50 x 2 in Vegas and then this becomes another illusory "benefit" like Oura, LA Fitness etc.

Can I purchase the GCs at any retail cash register or do I have to go to the customer service counter (assuming they still have one)

My underlining

Or at some point they may reach the opinion that the carried forward liability of the GCs isn't worth it and declare them just another unsecured debt.

Here's one example of such an event with a happy ending.(read the article)

I would not expect that in a Chapter 11 reorganization. Note that the linked example is a Chapter 7 liquidation.

Both DC-area stores closing in May. Need to find something online for my gift cards. Whats Amex going to do to make up this loss?
