…but also much like 25K, it *does* get you just ahead of the next person in line who doesn’t have it.
MG has never gotten me a free suite or club access, but it consistently gets me late checkout and higher-speed wifi for free, and both of those have delivered small incremental value 20 times a year, which is fine since I didn’t have to lift a finger to get it.

Sure, you're ahead of someone with no Bonvoy status, but the Elite ranks in that program have gotten so large that many hotels now post the number of Elites checking in every day to help people understand why they aren't getting all the benefits they think they should, or that they did previously.
Pretty sure all Bonvoy members (not just Elites) get free wifi at all of their hotels and I've never noticed a difference between the 'standard' and 'higher speed' connection.

This is how comped status works pretty much everywhere, including the reciprocal (using AC status to get Marriott status). I have Hilton Gold status through my credit card. My counter starts at 0 every year. Same thing with my Marriott lifetime Gold. When my Marriott Titanium got me UA Silver, same thing at UA.

While not providing a huge benefit, it cost me nothing and got me late check out and an oceanside with balcony upgrade in Panama in 2025and a nice room in Nashville in 2024--my only two Bonvoy stays in the last 2 years.
Don't use it much but appreciate the little bit it does offer.

Just consider Marriot Gold as nothing. That way you are no dissapointed.
The only people you will be ahead of for any type of tiny uprgade are FOTSG.

I'm trying to ascertain if the Marriott Bonvoy Gold status benefit as part of being a 50K or higher Aeroplan is a one off, or annual perk?
I'm a SE and claimed this offer last year. I've just noticed I've dropped to Silver Bonvoy. I understand that Bonvoy has a soft landing for Elite tiers. But also understood that being given Gold status was one of the perks of the Aeroplan Elite tiers.
Is that not the case? I've searched but cannot find terms theat explicitly state one way or the other.

Do you not have the option to get the status in the app?
I was never able to go through with it since I'm above Gold, but the status offer still shows for me on AC.

Perhaps it was only a 1 year thing.

But nowhere does it say if this is a once in a lifetime or annual (assuming one makes eligible Aeroplan status) perk.
