Not sure this is a bad thing at all. After checking in at TBIT last Tuesday and both the TSA PRE and normal security lines were very long, I went through T4 security quite quickly and walked back airside to the QF F lounge. So the path through T4 might end up being a real enhancement.

Does this mean T2 FIS is reopening on that date as well?

The QF F lounge is one of the few highlights of flying out of LAX (worst is the bus to/from car hire as the people mover is still not operational). Last time I was in there I just ate there rather than on the plane. Really good food, never busy in there.

It gets very very busy in there - two weeks ago before the BA268 they were turning people away presumably Qantas flights similar timing

Agreed sadly, that time of night does get very busy and there are reports of them turning away non BA/QF pax at that time (especially those flying on AA).

Qantas often have two A380s and a B789 all leaving within an hour of the BA A380 service so it is just a very large volume of F and OWE passengers at that time.

Are they still not doing Espresso Martinis?

On my last visit the staff were being forced to stick a very rigid menu

After the Marmite Martini in the CCR I darent ever again take a normal Espresso Martini, especially not before a long TATL I intend to sleep on. My BA268 LAX-LHR was one of the most pleasurable F flights I can remember on BA due mostly to a magnificent crew.

Have to admit I dont know the answer to this one. I would imagine LATAM will still use TBIT gates, just the check-in location will change.

The email I just got from BA:

"
From 24 February onwards, our flights from Los Angeles International Airport will now operate through Terminal 4 West, instead of Terminal Tom Bradley International.
"

Doesn't mention it's temporary, so who knows!

Still easy to swing by Qantas before wandering to T4 nonetheless...

The flights are still using TBIT gates, so it is actually the other way round. Check in at T4 and then go to the Qantas lounge.

I just got the email today for a flight 5 months out. One thing that confused me is it said T4 West. I didnt realize there was a West wing to T4. is this part of whats coming with all the current construction at T4/5?

I think it's only being referred to that at the moment because part of the middle of T4 ticketing is still closed (it's not even there at all at the moment, under reconstruction). Eventually T4 'west' and 'east' will meet and form one large ticketing hall, with BA and JAL at the west end.

The new TSA checkpoint there has been approved to open for business, so it will be ready to go for the first day of BA operations on the 24th. BA passengers can either use the new checkpoint which opens up into the T4-TBIT connector, or go to TBIT and use the old one if they prefer. Either way, all BA flights will still be using TBIT gates.
