LX1416 arrived early from ZRH @ 13.34, yet departed nearly 1.5 hrs late for ZRH, weather ok in Belgrade so my money is on technical, finally departed TSR at 18.25

Yes, weird, having not gone far one would expect it to return to BEG for technical or medical, TSR is a very small airport.

In case of technical issues, the pilot has three choices: first: land asap; second: continue to destination; third: return to base. TSR does not fall in any of the three.

Maybe BEG could not offer an immediate return, TSR & BEG are very close

Boarding of LX1417 started early but passengers had to wait in the jet bridge before boarding the plane. During the wait ground staff informed them the flight crew needed time to figure out the details of where to refuel.

US sanctions on Serbian fuel provider NIS. These sanctions seem to have been missed when calculating fuel for the outbound LX1416.

Seems a strange mistake to make, given all the LHG flights to & from BEG
