If you know you're going to travel again and you can get full value out of the hotel credits, I'd consider earning the MQDs now.

Name on reservation must match name on Skymiles account to get credit as noted in the T&Cs and on the booking page itself. There a section for "Special Requests" on booking page. I would just note one of your parents as an additional guest on reservation which should allow them to check in.

The company I work for wants us to book directly through the hotel. Any idea if a Marriott would be able to give me a receipt for a stay booked through Delta Stays? I doubt it, but want to ask just in case.

The receipt would show paid by Expedia’s virtual credit card, which powers Delta Stays. And the amount will be different from what you pay (missing Expedia’s cut and Delta’s cut)

Does anyone have any experience with earning MQD credits for separate Delta Stays rooms that consist of two separate rooms/reservations made for the same date and time? Curious if MQDs from both reservations will post. Thanks

Yes, the promo is active through Feb 16.
If you go through selecting a hotel, before payment it shows you the total MQD's and miles to be earned. Tomorrow it will show only miles.
Do remember, that all kinds of resort, cleaning, administrative and fuel fees are not earning MQD's. So, a hotel with a low rate and huge fees is not a good choice for this promo

This was a very good promotion, I booked a few stays in different cities. Today, I am looking at a funny EXPERIMENT:
A]
A question arose, to which I have not found an answer in Terms and Conditions.
I had booked during this promo and now that after the promotional period ended, I see that the room charge is now $25 lower.
What happens if I change the reservation to re-book under the lower price?
Will I still earn MQDs (although lower amount, of course)?
B]
OK... I am trying to change the reservation clicking on exactly the same room showing the lower price. When I click select, it says:
Fine -- I try to re-book the same room WITHOUT breakfast, the first screen tells me that the difference is - $40.
BREAKDOWN
$251 per night
Taxes & Fees $25
Local tax - Due at property $13
So, I expect I will get $40 refunded. I did exactly the same last year in Madrid and it worked fine.
Today, when I continue, IT WANTS TO CHARGE ME EXTRA!
On the next screen to be confirmed, it says:
ORIGINAL TRIP TOTAL: $328.56 (incl. taxes and fees, also incl. local tax payable in hotel)
NEW TRIP TOTAL: $306.50
Total Due Today: $15.53
Somehow it does not add. I know I was never good at math...

Most of the properties I booked had free cancellation up until about a week before the trip so it’s a pretty lowest proposition assuming you stay on top of your dates. Interestingly, most were a little pricier than hotel websites, but funny enough there were a couple that were a little less costly than direct. I found that interesting….
