There is close to zero incentive to book on partner airlines that earned SQMs in the past and now only earn AP points for non *A partners on non 014 stock

There is very little incentive to earn 1 SQC per 5 AP points for *A flights that are not on 014 stock.

It is not always possible to book flights on 014 stock for legs with *A or qualifying non *A partners as part of multi city trips.

AC have told us how to behave starting on 1 January 2026. I assume that they have the data to support their decision and high confidence in their behavioural expectations.

Clearly they do...I'll spend $6k to fly to SYD on AC metal and as a thank you, inter-aussie flying with VA holds no real benefit anymore.

My YOW-Cancun flight was with Air Canada Vacations. The SQC and flight (500) miles posted impressively quickly. Does the 500 miles get the 5X multiplier for 75K status? Website seems to indicate that it does but have not seen anything at 10 days post.

I would agree that it should get the bonus multiplier.

In my spreadsheet I was expecting 1386*4 for 5544 SQC

1000 SQC not much of a difference, just wondering why?
Is it a different route? Or have the taxes changed? You should compare the two bookings. I think the net amount (SQD/SQC) changes depending upon the taxes and fees, which is destination specific.

I would always use Cowtool track the SQD on these. Even in Canada, e.g. flying to YHZ via YYZ or YUL results in different SQD/SQC.

A lot more... UK departure tax for anything above Y is a lot more than other Euro countries (same tax in PY and J, which seems a tad unreasonable IMO). LHR takes quite a hit on your FP segment SQCs. Pricing the Euro LT FP vs the EURO PY FP, very similar net SQC for all my segments which are in/out LHR all the time.

This is the best laugh

my $1600 MEL-WEL-AKL-SYD netted me a grand total of ~600 SQD (on ANZ stock)

vs 3,000 SQM....

unreal

On the other hand, it also used to earn 0 SQD?

There might be some recent changes within the AC ticketing system or rules, that seem to allow additional routing, flexibility, etc. at least with *A partners. I have not tried with non-*A partners,

In 2025, YYZ-AMS-FRA-HKG-ICN-YVR-YYZ, I was not able to combine the AMS-FRA-HKG segment into 014, so I settled with YYZ-AMS//HKG-ICN-YVR-YYZ on 014 O earning SQD, and AMS-FRA-HKG in 220 O however no SQD.

This year, I was able to book YYZ...FCO//FRA-SIN//FUK//NGO-ICN-YYZ all in one 014 O, so all earning SQC. I looked into using GF and WY but unable to find a routing that works for me.
