Vietnam Airlines transit service for long layovers
Does anyone know or can confirm whether VN still offer their transit service for passengers with layovers in SGN or HAN that are over 7 hours? Up until the pandemic, VN included a hotel stay, visa fees paid (for entry into Vietnam) and even a city tour for transit passengers if their layover was over 7 hours. I have a 14-hour transit in SGN flying from CDG to SYD (in business) and the thought of being stuck in their Lotus Lounge (where there are no decent showers* or day beds) is filling me with dread!
*they have showers but it looks very basic and they don't even have hair dryers, which means you can't wash your hair after a long flight!

I finally made contact with the VN office in Sydney and they informed me that the transit service has been suspended (since the start of the pandemic) and remains so with no indication at this point in time of whether it will return.
I really don't fancy being stuck at SGN for 14 hours, so will look at getting a room at the Ibis Saigon Airport for the day. The only additional cost would be for entry visas, if you're not eligible for free visa.

hi,
Does VN allow free stopovers? i'm looking to travel from KIX to CDG and stay 2 nights in Hanoi. chatted with customer service and they told me to book multiple cities, but it's like booking 2 separate flights, much more expensive than a 1 way KIX-CDG. Thanks!

Looking at the cheapest r/t fare , it would seem that it is possible at JPY 1200 per stopover - if the VN site isn't pricing nicely, perhaps try a travel agency site and see. You are only connecting once at HAN - the routing rules on that fare don't allow KIX-HAN-SGN-CDG or KIX-SGN-HAN-CDG
