The changes are extracted from Article 13 of our Conditions of Contract and highlighted below in bold.

All airline members of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) have agreed to observe the following baggage regulations. Sorry, I've just come back to this thread. My original (and first ever
) post was very poor. I omitted to mention the very pertinent detail that this was at T2 on a Sunday afternoon. I, much like everyone else here, have never had any issues at Changi and especially not at T3. Apologies again for such a daft omission and I also totally understand why it was perceived as trolling.
I was just shocked to see it and given that I fly out of Changi a lot I instantly thought to sign up and post it here in the hope that it may help some people. Quite funny that it was this observation that made me sign up.
Also I spoke to some SQ staff regarding the above notice and they said the only change is that they are now defining the size of the additional item, that's all.

Depends what you mean by 'obviously.' If your bag looks close to the cabin size limits (but is >>>>> 7kg), my experience with SQ is that you're unlikely to run into any issues. If you mean that the bag is huge and suitcase-sized ...

I recently travelled long haul with a lot of photo gear (3 lenses, DLSR and Mirrorless) as well as a 15" Macbook. They were ok and had no issues coming aboard

sure takes time to pickup but thats life. However, bag was damaged and likely not repairable. Was offered equivalent of $18 (USD) as a goodwill offer. I declined it and they said can try to get repaired, present bill and theyll pay. Lets see.

When verifying docs at the gate this weekend for SEA-SIN, GA said my wife and I both had to check our carryon as we each had a backpack as well. Appeared random as then she said my wife could take hers as a courtesy but one of ours had to be checked. Said it to a few others but the majority of everyone in economy had both.

Backpack small enough to fit under the seat in front?

Yeh backpack for underneath the seat. In looking at their allowance official policy, I could see why she was saying it but was completely random it appeared on who she made check a bag and who she didnt.
end result though was my bag got broken and there was plenty of room for it onboard

,that not that I've ever seen it rigidly enforced on SQ.

I just completed a r/t on Zipair where they also have a 7kg limit on carryons. My laptop bag (small laptop, power brick, phone, chargers for electronics) was 6.8 kg. I'd expect it on Zipair, just never thought it would be a thing on SQ.
