Splitting Out a Booking - Medical Clearance
One of our party is currently in hospital undergoing observation.
We are due to fly out on Wednesday.
The earliest they may be released is tomorrow. I understand is this would potentially be less than 48 hrs before the flight, that if they are cleared to travel we would need to contact Emirates Special assistance rather than completing the online medical form.
The Q becomes if they are kept in beyond tomorrow and then subsequently cleared by the doctors, can the booking be split out to allow 1 member of the party to travel on the original flights and the others to travel a few days later?
We have held off contacting Emirates at the moment as there is a degree of uncertainty as to when they will be discharged.

You can certainly split the booking and one member can stay on the original booking.
For the others, it depends on availability in the original booking bucket. And unless you are on a Flex+ fare there would be a chance fee for them. As far as I am aware, medical conditions will not exempt you from the change fee, but its worth asking if you need to change that booking. You (or rather the call centre or chat agent) can do this up to an hour before departure (although after you have checked in the process is a bit more difficult as you need to be offloaded first)
Beware: From personal experience:Emirates are not easy with medical cases and if there is a remaining medical requirement (apart from a wheelchair), you would do well to have a good explanation from a medical professional.
