I’ve taken my mother to South Africa in Club and this year have used two vouchers for 2 people return to Yvr and back from Seattle in Club.
These all required planning and booking when seats became available, but other than that not really difficult at all. If I could not use them, there’s prob better credit cards out there.
the recent balance transfers which gave avios was a big win win for me. As that could then be boosted as well

Have just managed to snag a pair of seats in J to HND at the end of May using a Barclays Upgrade voucher for two of us. There's no Avios availability at all coming back for a pair all year as far as I can see; question is, if I manage to snag a return can I use another Barclays Upgrade voucher and get BA to discount the Avios after the fact, as I can with a T-355 booking?
Or is that facility only reserved for flights unavailable when booking at T-355?

Barclaycard vouchers are ex-UK only. So you can't use one to book a one way HND-UK
You would have needed to use two vouchers when booking the outbound and then book the return afterwards using the other two halves of the vouchers.

Spoke to someone on the EC Silver line who dealt with Avios changes and they said I would be able to use another Barclays voucher for the return if and when it became available. Was surprised enough that I asked them to confirm this again and also to make notes on the booking to confirm the same and have noted down details of the call in case it comes to that. They were quite clear this would be possible, let's see what happens if and when it comes to actually booking!

When using Barclays cabin upgrade is it the same process at a Reward voucher ie. Book outward leg as soon as they are released then call up a few weeks later when the return is hopefully available and they adjust the vouchers/miles accordingly?
I'm after one seat, return LON to SYD, Econ to WTP.

We've just flown flights that I'd booked using Barclays vouchers to 'upgrade' PE to J. In MMB it said no upgrades possible, as expected. However, 1 hour before OLCI opened, or at least that's when I noticed, it came up with a POUG. I clicked through and it showed as not possible for the outbound, but available as c.Ł700 pp for the inbound. Given the inbound was the BAH-LHR 1.55am and we had 5K/6K (i.e. Club Suites mini cabin), I didn't take it any further.
I was under the impression that Avios bookings couldn't be upgraded using cash. Am I wrong or was this just BA IT doing its thing?

I don’t think it’s possible to “stopover” in Singapore on an SYD-LHR ticket. You would need to redeem two separate sectors (SYD-SIN, SIN-LHR) to make this work, which will cost more Avios than the SYD-LHR ticket.

But the other upgrade routes are possible.
If you spot availability in a higher cabin, you can ring up to rebook (this isn't an upgrade it's a re-issue)
You can't issue a Barclaycard Avios booking to F (so the ring up route isn't possible).
But the POUG and AUP won't re-issue the ticket so Barclays would never know.
I am lucky I only ever used on Barclays voucher and I got upgraded at the gate from J to F. I would have been quite happy in J. No way would I have paid Ł700 to upgrade.

Hi, looking for some advice.
I'm new to these vouchers. I'm not looking to use for a while. Have my first one and waiting until next year to get second one and then will be looking to book a long haul return for 2 in 2027. However, I have a few questions.
1) I had a little play with the one voucher I have to see how easy it might be to use. For some reason it only shows Economy and Premier Economy in the drop down menu on the search screen when I select the "use BA Barclays Cabin Upgrade Voucher and Avios" option. But, will show Business if I select "Book with money and upgrade with Avios" is this a known issue or am I doing something wrong?
2) Trying to find return availabilty seems to be pretty hard given you have to wait for both the outbound and inbound flights. Are there any tips for routes from London (e.g. using something like subscription sites like seatspy)? We can be flexible on dates/day of the week. Just want to be able to go a decent distance to get value from going Business class for a 10-14 days holiday destination again flexible of destination as I know very popular places will disappear quickly. Or I am really needing to think about just booking one way out when available appears and use another method for the return journey given the rules on use needs to be from the UK?

2 - yeah this is not always easy depending on route. Personally I used to use rewardflightfinder.com for browsing/looking for sensible return options.

Gold Priority Reward + Barclays Upgrade Voucher?
I'm assuming this is almost certainly a "no", but does anyone know if you can combine a Gold Priorty Reward with a Barclays Upgrade Voucher?
The T&C's on BA's website exclude using GPR with a bunch of things "7. Gold priority reward may not be used in conjunction with [i] Avios & Money, [ii] Gold upgrade for one or Gold upgrade for two; or [iii] Avios for upgrade or [iv] American Express Vouchers."
But Barclays vouchers are not on that list... so in theory the combination is not excluded.
