Not true, you can buy physical gift cards on Saks website and trigger the credit. The problem is that the minimum is $150 and nobody really wants to buy that amount for a $50 credit. IIRC though there were DPs though few and far between where it did work. It's only egift cards online that won't. And I strongly believe that for Lululemon it will be the same - no egift card online since its via Cashstar but physical cards shipped to you should/will work and in this case you do have an option to buy exactly $75 to get it free.

Thanks! Im hoping we get confirmation from someone regarding this new $75 credit soon, as theres only a small window before the new quarter starts. Ive got 7 Platinum to use before the credits expire, use it or lose it, LOL!

Assuming all prior benefits stay the same (although one could argue the new Streaming/online services credits are same but BETTER)

$200 more in annual fees, bummer, monies is monies.

+$60 in additional streaming credits per year (and adding YTP and YTTV is a plus for ME at least) since I don't use it all as it is, i'll probably unlock over $150 in value now
+$120 for Uber ONE (which I have used for several years and it does unlock value on some services and uber eats and I think still prioritization)
+$400 for RESY - a bit harder to use but there ARE a couple restaurants that I know of in HI, CA, NY, MA that we tend to go to soe that will add at least $200 a year in value

I'm already to the good at least the increase $470.. so it's still able to keep it's place in the wallet - for me at least.

The terms say the $95 annual plan also counts.

Anyone know if the Charles Schwab Plat Card will still receive the 'rebates'? If so, def a no brainer for me to keep the card under the new refresh

Yes, the new benefits are live for both the Schwab and Morgan Stanley versions. The only difference seems to be that the new mirrored finish is exclusive to the vanilla Plat.

So the benefits are mirrored but the cards are not...

  • $25/month for digital entertainment credit, up from $20/month
  • $600 hotel credit thru FHR, $300/half year - up from $200 for entire year The AMEX Plat Biz card has added $600 hotel credit, having none before.

  • $300 lululemon credit, $75/quarter, enrollment required
  • $200 Oura ring credit
Why did I think there was more? I must have looked at incorrect information before. The only thing on this list I actually benefit from (when I can use it) is the airline credit $200, and maybe the hotel credit if there's an acceptable hotel in the area I'm visiting.. I guess my platinum will be on the list again to be cancelled, unfortunately.😞

You are right, i didn't realize that but it actually explicitly states that both the monthly and annual plans are eligible. I'm assuming this is likely funded in full by Uber.

Maybe a bit off-topic but this really seems like AmEx just declared open war on Chase and Citi. They are literally out to get blood. I can literally visualize all the "blogs/articles" in the next few weeks talking about how Chase and Citi are so lacklustre (especially given how much positive blogviews they got in the past few weeks)

Really solid refresh. I like the bump to $300 for FHR/THC, makes it more usable for 2 THC nights. Lulu, eh I'll use it and stack GCs. The Resy credits are essentially money good for work reimbursable dinners when I travel to NYC. Looks like Mrs. kk is getting an Oura ring as a gift. lol.

Overall, much better value than the CSR refresh, IMO.

Interesting to see all the add ons. We recently down graded our AmEx card because literally none of the add ons had any benefit. After writing a letter with my observations, I had great chat with a person from the AmEx corporate office. In the end I noted that our household was no longer their target audience. However, the card and more importantly the customer service was worth the lower end card fees.

Just posting another data point:

I have 2 Platinum cards and my 1st Platinum card used the Hotel credit in January, 2025, and has been reset to $0.00 with $300 available.

I product-changed a Gold card to a 2nd Platinum on September 15 and put through a $200 airline charge and $300+ Hotel collection charge,

I received both credits ($200 x 2) this morning.

On the benefits page for my converted-Platinum, it shows:

CONGRATS. YOU'VE USED YOUR $200.00 AIRLINE CREDIT FOR 2025 AND $0.00 for my Hotel Credit with $300 available.

It's going to be really easy to justify paying that 2nd $695.00 annual fee.

OK, I just read great news from @gleff.

While anyone applying for the cards starting today will see the new annual fee right away...
  • Existing Business Platinum cardmembers will not see the higher annual fee until their next renewal date or after December 2, 2025.
  • Existing Consumer Platinum cardmembers will not see a higher annual fee until their next renewal date on or after January 2, 2026.
If your card renews in November 2025, you won't see the $895 annual fee until November 2026. But you get all the new benefits right away.

My AMEX Plat renews Nov 22. This means I won't get hit with the increased annual fee til 2026. And I will benefit from a number of the new and improved benefits.
