From the PR:
Knoxville joins St. Thomas, United States Virgin Islands, as the second new destination Southwest has announced this summer. By the end of August, the airline intends to announce another destination where the ocean wears two shades of blue and every landing feels like an adventure. More adventures also await at one of Southwest's homes on the Pacific Coast next year.

Sounds like another Caribbean destination soon. Not exactly sure what the last sentence means, maybe expansion somewhere on California (although the just had a pretty good expansion at SAN today)?

A landing at SXM can certainly feel like an adventure -- especially if you're on the ground!

I hope TYS-MDW gets added soon. I see that Allegiant flies that route twice a week.

Interesting move after the market exits and other still flying to market cuts they've made.

They are really throwing everything at the wall to see what sticks right now...

Someday in the future. I doubt it. They will considering it. Probably not anytime soon unless if they added TYS-MDW, if they have enough competitive against Allegiant.

This is great! We have seen that when Southwest enters a market that airfares drop! Good news for travelers in Knoxville who have been over paying for flights.

Any new competition will tend to force fares down, but it remains to seen whether the new Southwest will have the same effect as the old.

I may be missing something, but the linked PR does not mention TYS. Is it still happening?

Click on the link in post #2. The link in my post is just a copy and past from that link which is referencing the STT announcement which happened before TYS. Clear? Lol.

I hope so (I already booked a flight to TYS )
Look at the schedule 5 March and onwards. Non-stops to/from TYS: BWI, BNA, DAL, DEN & MCO

Demand for TYS-DEN is impressive. UA and F9 non-stops now. Hub war drums will be thunderous.
