Not sure what you mean by "tuna curry."

They serve mas huni every day. Highly recommend giving it a try. They will also generally have some kind of hot fish on the buffet, with the specifics varying by day.

Online reviews rave avoid a “tuna curry”. First thought it was the mas guni, which is on the ala carte. Apparently there’s another in one of the cauldrons and part of the “buffet”.

Different note,
1. How bad was the 1 hr domestic flight to/from Male? Came across multiple reviews noting l no/limited AC during the flight. How far is this from reality?
2. Do the rooms have any beach hats or totes to carry towels?
3. An older YouTube clip has one of the beaches(sundowner one?) frequented by schools of baby sharks at dusk and dawn. Any recent visitors confirm this?

One data point for your first question, both of the flights I was on between MLE and GKK were on nearly new ATR-72s. AC worked great.

I’m helping my brother research a trip to the Maldives for July/August 2026. We’ve been a few times, including PH but this will be his first trip. He is a solo traveller and his budget isn’t infinite.

Can anyone confirm what’s the board basis cash for bookings via the Hyatt app. I can’t find the board basis mentioned anywhere at all. When we went back in 2022 it was a Travelzoo deal and as I recall we had half board. That would be ideal in my view.

Do PH offer an AI option of any sort?

Luxury escapes has PH right now for ~1000/nt beach villa and ~1140/nt OWV, inclusions for 2 persons are breakfast, lunch, dinner, round trip transfer, free flow drinks, so it's not quite AI if one wants that to also include infinite meals and snacks but it's pretty good. Price is inclusive of tax and service charge.

I've been thinking about it for a future trip as it seems to be better than any deals I can find via Prive or the regular rates in the app. Cheapest rate on Hyatt side for beach villa for 7 nights next June is 5400USD after tax and service charge, includes breakfast but everything else including transfers is extra.

Of course, luxury escapes rate is almost certainly not a qualifying rate for nights/points/status benefits. But it seems worth the tradeoff.

Also a lot of AMEX cards with a $350 back offer for luxury escapes right now.

I am seeing half board and full board/all inclusive rates at Park Hyatt Maldives (see attached) and Alila Kothaifaru Maldives.

1125 + service charge + tax + transfers for beach villa loses pretty hard compared to the luxury escapes package. That's ~$10,300 for 7 nights after tax and service (looks like the rate includes transfers for 7+ nights) vs $7000.

For $3300 I'll mattress run the 7 EQNs if I need them

Agreed, but the $680 per night room rate is kind of high as well. I remember when I booked PH this year in April for June the cash rate was closer to $500, so the rate should probably change. I also just looked at the fine print on Luxury Escapes and the cancellation is in the form of credit but you can do one day change. So there is also some risk attached to it.

"Flexible Cancellation: You can cancel your booking for credit up until 45 days prior to the original check-in date. This can be done via self-service in your ‘My Escapes’ account. Your credit will be valid for 12 months from the date of cancellation. Credits are not transferable and cannot be redeemed for cash. Excludes service fee, if applicable.

Date Changes: If you need to amend your booking, you can self-service ONE date change in your ‘My Escapes’ account up until 45 days before your original check-in date. If you can’t find a suitable date, or still need further assistance, please contact our 24/7 customer service team. Subject to availability and surcharges"

Thanks, I was looking at Luxury Escapes. I am in the UK, and the offering I'm being presented with doesn't appear to be full board.

As for the direct with Hyatt booking option, I can't see any of the AI/Full board options. Only Half Board at best. (I wonder if this is because I am looking too far out. I am looking at July 29th 2026 for either 7 nights or 10 nights.

Thank you for pointing out the Luxury Escapes T&Cs - essentially, it’s a non-refundable rate. The risk is indeed greater, especially with the large upfront deposit required at the time of booking, the $175 Luxury Escapes membership fee, full payment is due 2 months prior to arrival and no Hyatt loyalty recognition.

If you wouldn’t book through Booking dot com, it’s probably worth reconsidering Luxury Escapes as well.

Domestic air transfer is included for booking 7 nights or more as shown in the screenshot. OP is booking 7 -10 nights for a single person.

Risk is no greater than advance purchase rates through Hyatt. It's actually better because with Hyatt your full payment is just gone, no changes no refunds. Obviously if one thinks there is a risk of trip cancellation, either appropriate travel insurance or refundable rates are always advisable.

Off topic, can you please fix the giant space underneath your forum signature where you link to your travel agency. It makes this post take up 4x as much space as it would otherwise.

Have Park Hyatt got a private lounge yet? Or are they still using the shared lounge? If there's still using the shared lounge, does anyone know whether there is any intention to add a private lounge?

there is a subsection within the domestic lounge. Looks like this. They give you cold towels etc so a little better rhan the domestic lounge but its pretty much the same
facility

Kayaks

1. Are there plenty of these to go around and are glass bottom ones worth the price?
2. While it’s contingent on sea conditions, generally in November, is kayaking/snorkeling around the house reef manageable for light swimmers(with vests)?

1. Yes there are always plenty of regular kayaks. I didn't find the glass bottom worth it at all, you can't really see much through the surface (in my opinion). I thought it would be cool for my (then almost-2-year-old) son to see but he found it difficult. He enjoyed just being in the kayak though. (They have all sizes of life jackets.)

2. Definitely weather dependent. With life jackets I think you'll be fine. Maldives ocean tends to be very very calm... but even with a light chop, ocean kayaking becomes hard work. One day when I was out with the kid we started taking on water and I had a mild panic, but I've practiced swimming in the sea with him on my back and collected myself. Kayak ended up full to the brim with water about 50 yards from shore. Had to pull the kayak back to shore to dump out the water -- didn't need to go to the gym that day...
