I struggle to understand the true position though when contrasted with this:

To keep this on topic, some of the BA crew from the flight I was on asked him for a photo and it ended up on Facebook/Instagram - BA crew in uniform standing in the galley between F and J, RW in his F PJs and wearing a cap saying 'First' no less.

The lad obviously has some issues. As he rightly points out, we all do.
But since no-one knows who I am, or you are, our issues don't get paraded in the media or on BA flights.
He could afford to almost entirely insulate himself from all these issues if he chose to, many rich people do.
But he doesn't because for all their other qualities most performers remain the hams that caused them to be there in the first place.

They're not paying to be anonymous, they're paying to increase their privacy. Someone like Denise Coates is very rich and famous, but a business woman not a performer. She isolates herself just fine and has a 'relatively normal' life despite there there being many who would like to 'just have a word'. (OK she's about 20x richer than Robbie Williams but the same principle applies). She doesn't travel on public transport with dark glasses on darling or wear a Denise Coates baseball cap.

KARFA's sausage is another example of unwanted fame. I am sure he would much prefer this wasn't rolled out on every occassion, but since he is a famous FT ambassador he takes it in good grace. I for one will definitely ask for a selfie with him, me and his CE breakfast next time we chance to meet. Were he not famous no-one would care about his sausage.

BA (well, all airlines) shouldn't allow staff to upload photos of passengers.
