Wine in a checked in bag transiting in JED with Saudia?

Next month I will go back to Italy for a while, for the first time I'll have my return leg to CGK with SV in J transiting in JED. I always bring back with me a couple of wine bottles as souvenir from my original country as it is so cheap comparing to absurd prices they charge in Indonesia for any kind alcohol except beer. I have now a doubt, I know SV is a dry airline, KSA is a dry country where alcohol is banned, not going for sure to bring a bottle of wine with me on board, what about checked in luggage? Does anyone have experience in transiting with one or two bottles inside in the checked in bag? Actually the bag in not entering on KSA but just transiting, I would avoid issue of being called by custom in JED and requested to remove bottles and being treated like a criminal during layover
Does anyone have any experience about this?

I've ever checked the website and the only mention about alcohol is this one:
  • SAUDIA does not serve or permit passengers to carry or drink alcoholic beverages on its flights.
it is for sure a clear statement concerning to carry alcohol in the cabin and in the country, not 100% clear about checked in baggage and transit. By the way I understand their term and conditions but I would like knowing if anybody has direct experience of being denied or questioned for the same issue.

I had a transit in JED 2 weeks ago and I was questioned about having alcohol in my checked luggage. Not sure if it was permitted or not (I did not have any alcohol in my checked luggage), but they did ask about it.

Note this was a transfer between 2 different airlines in the North terminal which required getting a 'transit permission form' from customs and immigration, so the transfer experience with SV in the South terminal might be less hassle (never done a SV-SV transfer in JED). I don't remember being questioned about alcohol on my SV-SV RUH transits.

You have a link?

I had never been asked anything about the content of my checked luggage with SV except the usual dangerous goods (lithium batteries). Last time I flew with them in December on the very same route as the OP I had alcohol (and pork meat) in my checked luggage. No issue whatsoever on arrival in CGK either.

Just to update:
I can confirm, last week, my wine bottles and 1.2 kg of pork salami arrived safely in Jakarta without any issue

Bumping an old topic to ask if it might be allowed to carry alcohol in carry-on luggage as well? (transiting in KSA and not leaving the airport).
My guess would be that it's a terrible idea, but I haven't been able to find a clear answer on whether this is actually prohibited.

The clear answer to this is NO.
It's 100% prohibited.

Bumping this old thread.

Does anyone have any recent experience of having alcohol in their check-in bags while transiting with Saudia through Jeddah? I understand that Saudi has changed a lot in the past few years. Many rules are not so strict anymore.

Thank you.

No questions asked early this year (other than the standard prohibited items at check-in though I did not look closely enough to see if alcohol was listed). FWIW, carryon bags were searched boarding at TUN presumably for alcohol (I guess the Saudis think Tunisia is sin city for their citizens and/or Tunisians are non-adherents) but not in BKK.
alamah and atflyer like this.

In TUN they search everything (all passengers seem to be searched by a crew member)since they seem to deem it an unsafe departure point. So this goes beyound alcohol (or porc, for that matter, as indicated in one of the 2018 posts ;-). I think from the above you can deduce that whatever is in hold luggage one one ticket, will pass the KSA.

Of course do not try this with hand luggage ;-).
