Was sunny, some light rain all day. As soon as I went to queue in the taxi rank it started bucketing down. Completely soaked now. Taxi driver kindly gave me a tissue but I really need a change of clothes

In the Sala lounge now. It's a zoo, no chance to take discreet photos. Having skipped lunch I thought it best to fill one of these tiny square plates with some bites. Don't like this beer.

Boarding should have been at 16:55 but I saw that the incoming OH-LZM had departed half an hour late. However, staying in the lounge just meant I was at the back of the queue for boarding-not-boarding. I'm not sure what happened but we were waiting on the jetbridge for an awfully long time. Eventually we pushed back almost 70 minutes late.

Goodbye Mlaga!

This was the best AY meal so far - tasty prawns and a moreish sauce.

This desert is starting to become a habit!

Just passing Reims.
So we are looking at landing well after midnight. My next flight is at 8am, but luckily I booked the Strawberry Comfort Express inside the terminal.

Very good report. Well done. Keep up the good work. I'm really keen to try the new Finnair J seats. How did you find them?

Minus is the seat belt dug into my shoulder, forcing me to lean left. And the headphones are in ear which I dislike.

Helsinki Strawberry Comfort Express
Turn left immediately after nothing-to-declare. One floor down. Open door with mobile key. Check FT. Sleep.
My next flight is already listed on the board, gate 31E.

Good morning everyone!
The Comfort Express had some downsides. The room was hot and the corridor was noisy. Occasional random bumps from neighbours woke me. Nevertheless I feel fairly refreshed. Fitbit says I had half an hour deep, and the same REM sleep.
The upside was the speed to the lounge. I got out of bed at 05:40, quick shower and wrap up my things. Out of the hotel at 6am. Ten minutes for security even though they pulled my bag. In the lounge moments later.

Closest approximation to bacon cheese sarnie I could manage. Lingonberry juice.

Gate 31E is a bus gate and although the area is small, there was no effort by Finnair to segregate by group. Despite this, there was little crowding and I managed to squeeze through onto the first bus.

Terminal building as seen from bus stand.

A350-941 for just 140 minute flight. OH-LWT.

It is a frosty morning.
I'm still in shorts from Spain followed by the hot hotel room. So the brief walk from the bus felt a bit nippy. The CC on my side immediately offered me a blanket!
There's only eight of us in J this morning so I'm hoping for an attentive service
Edit:
Just seen on FR24 there is a 20 minute delay, not communicated on board.

Great report - very interesting read! I usually find AY intro-Europe catering quite decent, and sometimes better than long-haul.
I find they are a bit of an acquired taste, but I really like them. To my surprise, my wife was a fan from the outset as well. Only position where they become a bit awkward is for eating, if you ask me. But for lounging/sleeping they are great.
Always the Hilton for me as well - short walk outside but decent hotel with a decent enough Exec Lounge.

The 20 minute delay was of course for de-icing.

Apparently I'd ordered the kosher meal. Not sure what my thought process was, but happy to try something different.

Now of course you have to know how to open the double-bagged main. Tip: don't use the plastic knife, it's not strong enough. Just tear the label and one side - not the side you try first - will allow the inner tray to slide out.

Clockwise from top left: fruit compote, fish paste with sweetcorn and peas, (regular bun from the basket), Nordic Blush, crackers, sesame sweet thing, salt and pepper (woo!), omelette kind of square with potatoes and carrots.
The rest of the service was very good. Pleasant CC who kept my Blush topped up. Unfortunately there was no internet so I watched the first episode of Penguin.

De Bijlmer
Landing smooth and enjoyed brisk walk past the baggage carousels thanks to HBO.
I'm in the train home now.
Thanks all for reading and I hope someone can use this report in the future.
