“Sorry unable to process request” when trying to change seat
Not sure if I should be worried about this. I wanted a slightly better seat on BA16 (2x Club Suite with Avios and companion voucher)
On the way out I was able to choose. On the way back, although there are other seats free and I can select them, it always fails when I confirm.
I was on live chat for ages with BA and they said they had the same problem, and to try at the airport.
It seems bizarre to me they don’t know why they can’t change the seats, and agree other seats are still available!
Could there be anything wrong with the booking I need to be concerned about?

Check you're ticketed - the Malaysian airlines website is good for that, and I think the BA App shows ticket number somewhere. If you are, it's possibly going to come as a surprise but BA IT is more flaky than a Gregg's sausage roll and I wouldn't worry about it.

I do see a ticket number in the BA app though, underneath the aircraft type.
Good advert for Greg’s then!

Just go to the RJ or AY site and you should be able to select your seats without any issues. Check expertflyer before and after, just to make sure they’ve ’stuck’. Go to manage booking on either RJ or AY, enter the required details and then navigate to the seat selection section and make your choices but don’t forget to save. This has happened to me a lot with BA’s sausage roll (sorry, flakey IT) and this solution always works.

I've also had the same issue changing the time of a flight. It goes through the process, charges your card, but then fails and says to contact customer support. It's done this three times on two flights. Yet another BA IT issue.

I've had this issue when trying to change seats before. Ticketed bookings, seats already booked at T-7 as Bronze and then better ones come up on the seat map.
Its often an issue, I accept it and put it down to poor IT... I once tried online chat, they assured me they'd changed it and never did. I've given up ever since.
If you're not ticketed, it won't let you book in the first place and you don't get as far as the seat map anyway.
I will try AY website next time.
