Just been on a massive mileage run and have enough in the bank for PFL, I actually went to Algeria for 4 hours on the same run. You don’t need a visa if staying at the airport for less than 24 hours. I flew LHR - CDG - AMS - BLL - AMS - CDG - ALG - CDG - AMS - BLL - AMS - CDG - LHR. All worked out well, tired from all the flights and slept on most of them.

I'm looking at an ITA flight for February, with the aim to try them before they defect to *A, with the news now certain. Think it will still be safe by then, but anyone has a bit more concrete info on that?

No one has any concrete info so far, but considering the logistics behind an alliance switch, it is extremely unlikely that they can exit SkyTeam before the end of the winter schedule.

Having hedged my bets last year with BA Silver and FB Plat I've concluded FB is my better bet so placing all the eggs in that basket moving forward.
I've secured another year at Silver on BA to burn through my miles and a couple of upgrade vouchers, so now need to secure FB Plat again......essentially I need another 200XP before end of April.
I've got a 30XP BC return booked and a Transatlantic which seems to be netting me nothing, lol, KLM MAN/AMS/IAH in economy then AUS/JFK (Delta) and JFK/LHR (VS) in PE.
Having read through here it seems the best option is to look for low cost euro multi hops in Business, add SAFs and look out for SAS plus cheap multi hops, all avoiding domestic legs.
Fair summary or am I missing any other 'best practices'?

In case you can swing it, and for those in US East Coast, Yul to Dca/Bwi/Avl/Myr and some others at a very attractive $250-290 o/w for 3 segments in Biz, netting 27XPs. Be flexible in dates, Alaska to position, the rest is fun.
