Tried the cocktails - my opinion:
Negroni was very nice.
Espresso Martini - looked good but did not taste so.
Mojito - very poor - not muddled.
Margarita - Ok - would not have again though.

Espresso Martini

Margarita

Mojito

Negroni

It might be because of the time of day, but the negroni is very strong!

Dont think I have time/the liver to test them all this morning, but have a 6 hour layover in a few weeks, so one for then.

Sorry to resurrrect this thread, but regarding Campari and Negroni, was there ever a consensus as to whether the Negroni is premixed, or is it freshly made in GF?

My reason for asking is that my father is a Campari and soda man, very Luton Airport I know. I'm sure he'd enjoy one as I accompany him to YVR later next month. I did manage to find Campari in the Cathay F lounge when BA YVR flights have been via T3.

I haven't seen any evidence yet that Campari itself is available in GF. I'm grateful in advance for any information on this.

I think it is pre-mixed, but it remains my go-to cocktail in the lounge; I hope to have one next week!

As a recently demoted GGL, and not having been in the "regular" First lounge for many years, where abouts are the cocktails available from?

Well like you I haven't spent much time in T5 GF in recent times, but there is a drinks station set out for cocktails in the middle of the main lounge area, just after where you'd normally be turning left on your way to the CCR. They're made by staff. I may be mistaken, but I believe you order via an app.

The one time I went up to the bar to ask for some ice, I was sent away with my tail between my legs, directed to the kitchen on the way to the old Champagne area. I gained the impression that they weren't interested in doing anything off piste... like ice.

Scan the QR code and will be brought to you as well. The Negroni pairs well with the Rose Champagne too.

Did seem to be less cocktails on the menu on my final visit.

My experience in the last few months is indeed less choice and usually from a can with the garnish added

I love Campari and soda too!
Campari is there in the self service section with the spirits, or at least was a while ago.
However there has not been soda (club soda) for several years now. I complained - often - but to no avail. Kept getting offered Perrier water . Even from the staffed bar. So I gave up.

The epsresso martini certainly comes out of a can. I once asked if I could watch him make it - ring pull, pour, coffee bean garnish. Voila!!

OK thank you! At home he has a posh soda stream for the fizz aspect, so probably the Schweppes fizzy water will be sufficient (post #59).

It's just one stubborn man's opinion, but there is no such thing as an expresso martini.

The Espresso Martini from the can in GF isn't good. Resist the temptation to try it. The CCR version, however, is top notch - and the perfect landing drink.
