Just to kick start a wiki, with answers to frequent questions.
1. We're flying HND-NGO-HNL. NGO-HNL is booked in business class, but HND-NGO is in economy. Will we still get the baggage allowance as if we're flying business class the whole way?
A: Yes. written here (link)
2. We're flying HND-NGO-HNL. Will we have lounge access in HND?
A. Definitely, within the lounge access rules of course. written here (link)

Award booking should be eligible for advance seat selection. What is the specific error message you get?

I know 17A/C are bulkhead so possible reserved for bassinets, so I tried to select the row behind, 18A/C, and I get the same error shown below. The link on the word check just goes to another page that says it is system error has occurred.

Warning Please confirm the following.

  • Error: Unable to request seat 17A for last name CHECK
  • Error: Unable to request seat 17C for last name CHECK
  • Error: The selected seat cannot be reserved. Please select another seat. (4631 - 4360)

Hi I would like to book flight depart to Nagoya on JL726 followed by JL3083.
And after that to back to Jakarta with JL3082 and JL725.

Question is, will the baggage check through? In this specific case, the luggage will be a sports equipment, a bicycle in a hard case.

I am hopping that the baggage can be check through, however, I heard a mixed reviews. That in Tokyo, I will need to collect the luggage and re check it again, please kindly advice. Thank you

Arriving in Japan from an international flight you always have to reclaim luggage and take it through customs. No way around that. Domestic recheck is pretty easy, it is just a brief walk to the left in the terminal after exiting from customs. You can use a luggage cart directly from the luggage carousel to domestic counters.

Good to know! So regardless the airlines, the policy remains the same? Which definitely needs to get the luggage and check-in it again?

For domestic to international, NGO-NRT-CGK. In NRT I still need to do the same thing to re check at NRT?

That's kind of the point of 'always'. The policy remains the same.....

In the other direction luggage will be checked through to Jakarta. Unless you pick one of the LCCs from NGO to NRT....

Data point: I called JAL today, and the agent was able to reserve seats for me. I had requested 17A/C, but I suspect those are blocked for possible bassinet use. I had also asked for 18A/C, as an alternative to 17A/C, but ended up with 18H/K. My flight is next year, and I know that sometimes seating gets moved around, but I am happy to have the current seats assigned. Still no idea why it kept giving me an error code online. I had tried Chrome as well as Safari to see if it was a browser issue. Anyway, seats are reserved, which is what i had wanted to get done.

Hello, more of a logistical question, I will fly from SIN to HND on JL 36 in First Class next year and usually for international connections in HND I have had no issue entering JAL first class lounge before. But for arrival only, would it still possible for me to access the JAL first class lounge at Terminal 3 and then pick up my luggage afterwards?

I can't seem to find the answer to this one so here goes.

I flew a AS marketed but QR operated flight (IAD-DOH-SIN) as per below. My JL FFP and AS eticket number is shown on my physical ticket. I have not received any mileage credit to my JL FFP account. Am I supposed to get 50% as per the Accrual chart for AS to JL? Cause I did read that as long as codeshares are oneworld operated, I should be eligible for mileage accrual. I tried to submit the post credit mileage, but they asked me to send my boarding pass via postal mail instead as this sector can't be processed online.....

I'd like to ask if I can check in / bag drop on JL36 flight at SIN but it is not actually the first flight in the PNR ticket?

My full itineray is KUL - SIN - HND (MH-JL). JL36 was not available as a reward flight from SIN however it was from KUL hence the booking.
I'm likely to be at SIN enroute to KUL to start this flight so I'm wondering if it would be possible to bag drop in SIN earlier in the day then fly over to KUL.

You can do early check in at the counters in The Jewel, from 12 hours before until the counters open for the flight.

That being said, I would doubt very much that they'd accept bags for a flight not originating there. If you had flown the first leg to Singapore and wanted to add a bag for sure possible. This case, I doubt it. But you can try, but have room in the plan for a possible no.
