Discussion of the discontinued Sears MasterCards which earn ThankYou Points has been moved to a separate thread, HERE.

Application link for the Shop Your Way (SYW) MasterCard is HERE.

Accumulating points, expiration, and redemptions:
You can accumulate SYW points in some of the following methods:
  • Bonus offers sent to your email (ie: Spend $750 on Online and get 200,000 SYW Bonus points)
  • Regular spend - categories: 5% in gas, 3% in grocery/restaurants, 2% in SYW Merchants, 1% everywhere else
  • "Missions" in the SYW App (iPhone/Android)
Expiration of points:
Not all points have the same expiration timeframe. Some bonus/incentive points expire in 30 days or less. Most are 1 year. You can check in the SYW app, or the shopyourway.com website. Make sure to redeem the points before they expire!!!!

Redemptions:
You can only redeem $200 worth per day. So if you redeem for a $200 GC, you have to wait until the next day to make another redemption of any amount.

Credit Line Increases
This is very odd, but according to the Chatbot on the website:
Q. When requesting a credit limit increase, is the credit inquiry a hard or soft credit inquiry?
A. Unfortunately, until we process the request, there isn't a way for us to know if a credit line increase request will be a soft or hard hit on your credit report. For this reason, we have to receive your permission to pull a copy of your credit report before we process the increase request. If you process the request online, you will see a message stating "By submitting this form, you authorize Citibank, N.A. to obtain your credit report."

To request an increase online:
In order to request an increase, you will need to go to your “Credit Home” page, and find “Available Credit” at the top of the page. Then, click on the link that says “Request Increase” to begin the process.

Also, I’m a little disillusioned with the $200 credit for $2000 spend GGR offer. I spent like $2120 and got only a $100 credit. So something must not have counted and I can’t figure out what. Makes me think sticking to $100/$1000 is safer since hitting $2200/$2300 for GGR is a lot of effort and tracking.
When did you hit the spend?

I had one month where my spend was like $1200 by statement closing, so it was $100 but then in the last week I hit the $2,000 so next month another $100 posted separately.

Sears in Stockton, CA closes in August if that is relevant to any of us here. I don't think it is, but figured it should be posted here.

Sears in Concord, CA is still going to be there...

On the Credit Karma mobile app only (Mint successor), there is a calendar month spend total on the profile page for each card that can be used to track GGR assuming if you use the card for only this category. No other easy way to track I feel.

Just got an offer for 10% back on travel and entertainment purchases until the rest of the year. With a max of $100 per month (so $1000 max spend per month). No minimum on the spending requirement.

If this was back when my job had me flying often for work, I would have been very happy. But since I don't travel much this year, I wouldn't be able to make much use of this offer unless I decide to go to a concert or something. Just a free 10% on travel and entertainment on up to $1000 in spending per month.

Received a pretty nice offer as below on my SWY card. Came via snail mail. This is for GGR spending running from 7/1 through 12/31. My wife has the original $100/$200 GGR offer for the whole year.

Earn a $150 statement credit when you spend $1000 - $1999.99 on eligible purchases each month.

OR

Earn a $250 statement credit when you spend $2000 or more on eligible purchases each month.

Appears to be the same offer as reported in the proceeding post, except the SYW card offer is in money $150 or $250, while the ThankYou Rewards card offer is in points 15,000 or 25,000.

6/15 Offer #1 : Spend online $750, earn $50
UberEats $40 triggered "$710 to go" email.

7/2 Offer #2: Spend GGR $2k, earn $250
Would UbetEats $2k satisfy $50 & $250 spend requirements?

I had a fraudulent charge on my SYW Mastercard for Tidal.com $18.02. I tried to file a dispute on the website but I get an “internal server error” when I get to the submit page.

Has anyone requested an authorized user card on their SWY MC? Does it have the same card number? Reason I am asking is that I just requested a card online for my wife on my account and according to the website, it will have different last 4 digits. This is typical for Amex, but not for any other Visa or MC.

More importantly, does SWY treat transactions on authorized user card same as primary card holder for counting towards various spending bonuses?

TIA

The answer is it depends. I have 1 SYW card with an AU with the same number. Another with an AU with a different number. It may have to do with how old the card is.

Transactions from AUs count towards special offers regardless.

Looks like I had 3 online purchases which did not count toward the online category. One was a doctor's bill, another was a renewal of yearly dues for a professional organization and the third was a gift card purchase on AARP (not using PayPal).

I requested an AU card about a month ago. It came with a different number. The only offer I have is 5% back in travel and entertainment and I received the statement credit already for the purchase from the AU card with the different number.

I prefer the different card numbers like this as.its easier to sort through the transactions.
