3rd meal for longhauls
I'd welcome a third meal on longhauls. Let's hope they improve the quality as well.

Brian Sumers, for his excellent Airline Observer newsletter, interviewed United Airlines Chief Commercial Officer Andrew Nocella, who told him (paywall) that a third meal will be coming to ultra-long haul flights on the airline. This should happen within six months.

So is this something more than the third "meal" typically served on TPAC flights? Yeah, a wrapped sandwich, chips ("crisps") and a candybar in coach, and something more substantial in Polaris.
While I realize some people stay awake that long, my experience in Polaris is most pax are trying to maximize their sleep.

They they can remove one of the meals in the future citing a change we like to help maximize sleep.
Either way, I'd prefer better quality than increased quantity

this month's pathetic small margarita pizza TATL as a pre-arrival snack must be part of this. No, not in coach ... this is on Polaris

Actually I assumed they meant a cold sandwich or snack box for the 2nd meal, then reduce the size of the other meals citing the 3rd meal a an excuse.

Doesn't the long haul (nrt-ewr and sin-sfo) already have 3 services? Lunch/ dinner , snack (dry cold turkey sandwich + m&m) , breakfast entree. So I'm thinking it's an 'enhancement' to the snack, aka dry warm lettuce sandwich instead

Considering how pissed off United flight attendants get when you request the hot snack on the Australian flights, I doubt they'll be happy about this one!

...United Airlines Chief Commercial Officer Andrew Nocella, [...] told him that a third meal will be coming to ultra-long haul flights on the airline.
Out of all the 1000's of posts on this forum complaining about UA's food, and talking to numerous people who fly United, I've NEVER heard a single person ever say:
"Hmm, what we REALLY need is an extra meal service on them ultra long United flights."
How bizarre!

Indeed. they are serving what is arguably the worst J food among their peers and they think what they need is a 3rd meal on ULH flights?

I think so. Maybe a more substantial hot snack with sides or a full meal service.
