You're right... depends on the award How many hotels these days are raving about their TripAdvisor ratings and accolades..... TripAdvisor?! Where 80% of the reviews are bought? I'm exaggerating here but you get the point.

NYC
google.com/search?q=aman+new+york+factsheet
great entry rooms include small dining table and fireplace.
may have 0 fully separated suites, if this image is corner >

14th floor - 3 dining with alfresco, outdoor, open-air

spa - spa houses have "private outdoor terrace"

12 fifth avenue junior
14 premier
10 premier sanctuary
20 premier 57th street
06 fifth avenue
11 grand
04 corner
02 aman

745-775ft2 entry room vs 764ft2 at (new build) aman tokyo.
79 room 22 condo, all outdoor pools (4) are in condos.
20m hotel pool is indoor in spa

upcoming aman >
beverly hills 42 room 37 condo, 4 private acres.
miami 56 room 23 condo (condo separate?)
no other brands build that low density.
no other hotels do similar size entry rooms

there is some keeping relatively close to original aman with size variation, in terms of large entry and not scaling up incredibly dramatically to higher level suites and top suite. same with number of categories. while there are 8, it could easily have been just 3 - premier , grand , aman. with entry room and variation, the choice is higher revenue at lower occupancy, and with few rooms in big cities it may not be lower occupancy. for example places like cheval blanc and ritz in paris have tiny entry rooms. aman NY publishes 4 rooms that can only be booked with 4 corner suites. i have never seen it published that way. presumably other hotels simply adjust rate when there are multi-bedroom suites/villas, some of which do not rent the connecting rooms separately from the suite/villa.

(i'm not back)
