Current position on Twitter is that you’ll find out the rule once you board your flight. Really baffling that there hasn’t been a clear statement, at least to explain what’s going on and when they’ll have a more comprehensive update.

I booked a flight for Sunday on the basis of the information originally released (ie mask no longer required).

What a farce.

Honoured in the breach

Have to say. In my limited experience of flying during the Covid madness (3 Club Europe and 1 Club World flights in the period from October 2020 to February 2022) the crew showed no interest in enforcing mask wearing, whether or not I was eating or drinking. This suits me fine but it will be nice when they drop the nonsense altogether.

That sounds hopeful as otherwise they would have replied saying masks are still mandatory on all flights.

As it stands today BA still require passengers to wear masks whilst on board. The policy has not yet changed, you will find more information here: https://www.britishairways.com/en-gb...e-onboard-faqs

This has been confirmed by a number of crew above.

Read this article halfway down there is a tweet from BA saying they haven't reversed the policy! What a mess.

The official policy is that found on ba.com, we have been told there are compliance issues that need to be addressed by BA to ensure it can carry passengers in accordance with the laws and policies of the counties it flies to. Once those compliance issues have been addressed BA will make its announcement and publish a revised policy. Until then the status quo remains.

Finally got through on the Gold line to ask about this and the agent categorically told me this decision has not been reversed and I will not have to wear a mask on my next flight within Europe this Saturday. Wish I'd recorded the conversation.

It wouldn't really matter if you had. You have a legal requirement to obey crew instructions so what they say goes, regardless of what you've been told by call centre employees.

True. Its Paula F. Anecdotally our neighbour is a Captain and we've just bumped into him and spoke to him about this mask fiasco and told him what the Gold line said and he said on his flight to Portugal today the mask mandate was dropped to much relief apparently.

Yet crew and passengers on this forum who travelled today have reported that masks were required, even on MAN-LHR. Passengers need to be prepared and have masks with them.

This is a good way to make me cancel my flight. I have no desire to be in a stress until the last minute, nor do I have any intention to engage in fights on board. Unless it gets solved within 4-5 days, I'm taking FTV. This is pathetic, even for BA. If you can't stand by the promise, don't give false hopes to your (potential) customers.

Same. I will give it a couple of days to see whether the situation is clarified, otherwise I will bail out too, which would be a shame after so long without international travel.

I know how you feel as we celebrated when we read the news too.
