Any insight on if Airbnb/VRBO gift card purchases will trigger the $200 credit?

If the gift cards are processed the same way the rentals are Id guess you would get the credit. If they are processed by a 3rd party you certainly wont.

$200 Vacation Rental Credit
Here's an interesting data point - I just charged a recent hotel stay to this card and my $200 Vacation Rental Credit posted to offset it. It was definitely a hotel (the merchant name includes "hotel" and posted as "lodging").
Just thought I'd share

"Capital One uses merchant category codes to determine if a purchase is a qualifying vacation rental. This means that sometimes a purchase may not earn this statement credit. For example, some vacation rental agencies may use a "hotel" code rather than a "rental" code. Capital One is not responsible for merchant category codes used by merchants. Eligible vacation rental merchants include Airbnb, Turnkey, Vacasa, and VRBO."

I'm assuming that the hotel used a rental code for VISA.

Does anyone know if booking an Airbnb experience would qualify for the $200 Airbnb credit? Thinking about doing one and booking it on this card to use the credit.

I know AwardWallet can do it. Not sure if it requires a membership tho.

I unexpectedly received the $200 vacation rental credit today. If you (or someone you know) are a college student and are renting from American Campus Communities (https://www.americancampus.com) then payment of monthly rent with the Venture X card triggered the rebate. They charge a fee to use a credit card but it maxes out at $19.95 so I elected to use Venture X for a few months to accelerate attaining the $10,000 spend, the credit was icing on the cake.

Thanks for these datapoints. I have added a section for them in the wiki.

C1 Venture X $200 Vacation Rental credit

Just came back from a Thanksgiving trip to Socal. Stayed at the Langham in Pasadena and a simple motel in San Diego. Surprisingly received the Airbnb credit. Not sure which one triggered it, but all three charges were coded as lodging. I had two charges with the Langham for having two separate stays and one with the Old Town Inn in SD.

Another data point: I received the $200 vacation rental after a stay at the Monteleone in New Orleans. Works great for me, since I always prefer to stay at hotels rather than Airbnb but wouldve sucked it up for the credit. Now theres no need!

C1 Venture X $200 Vacation Rental credit

The $200 vacation home credit worked for my rent at my apartment--I live in a large community owned by one of the big nationwide companies for DP purposes.
