Cruz acolytes inside BA or social media types probably will be next in the clear out.

Market liked it - IAG shares opened up by over 12% before giving it up to general covid worries.

Some comments here forget what Doyle did at BA before Aer Lingus.
which was? As somebody said is It different to wait Steve Gunning or Keith Williams did.

The drive to low cost status will carry on relentlessly...as long as the paying public continue to buy largely on price and are not prepared to pay more for a superior service. BA's only real strength left is the LHR domination and route network out of this single fortress....the hard and soft product have little differentiation now.

One could argue is that BA have responded in the last 10 years to exactly what the main air travel market actually wants..

Seriously, I would like to hear the reasons why he went with such dispatch before exulting in his departure.
May I be the first to say that I do hope that AC is not unwell or that there is some other 'unpleasant' issue in play here. For all the rotten eggs we've thrown in his direction over the years, he's a fellow human being. I've seen people die in their jobs and it's really not worth it.

The despatch of this change does raise a few questions though. WW has only been gone a couple of weeks.

Am I the only one thinking the title of Chief Transformation Officer is rather silly?

Indeed so. Whatever his faults, God forbid that one would wish illness on anybody.

Probably the most positive piece of news I've heard regarding the aviation industry this year!

Cruz helped destroy BA's reputation with the vast majority of passengers who sat at the back of the plane. Good riddance.

This appointment in particular doesn't inspire confidence:

Fernando Candela, LEVEL chief executive, is joining the Group’s management committee in a new role of chief transformation officer.
Previously of Iberia Express and Air Nostrum would imply that the "transformation" will be packed with "enhancements".

The unceremonious nature of his departure is fully deserved given the contempt with which he has treated airline employees and customers alike these last few years. Hopefully there will now be a brighter future for BA.

To be fair, it is at a subsidiary level, not group level.

Chief Transformation Officer, Chief Digital Officer, Chief Strategy Officer - all similar jobs that are needed for legacy companies to try and modernise and stay competitive.

Strange how people only saw Cruz as WW's lackey, but when Walsh left everything from the past is now the fault of AC.

All I can say is bring back Willie.

A leopard does not change it’s spots so I’d be inclined to agree that we might be staring more”enhancements” in the face

I think it's needed - but this is one of the roles which really shouldn't be filled from within the existing group - it needs someone with a broad, non-blinkered outlook on the wider world.

I suspect the vast majority of the passengers sat at the back of the plane could not care less who he was or that he has gone. All they want are cheap fares..
