My card came today. Strangely I almost never use the actual card. But keep it for benefits. No equinox near me. Ill have to decide in a year if its work keeping.

These posts with Ferrari keys are pathetic. But then again, any post with a black card & a car key will be pathetic (Pagani & Singer Porsche are an exception
). The only way it can get worse is if one throws in a Birkin with a blinged out Patek 🤢

Me too. 20 years with this card and this will be my last year. $1000 then $2500 and now $5000. Can't justify if. If it was like Germany with you and a AU for $5k then sure, same net spend. But $10k for two of us? Can't do it.
I still have >1MM points I need to send somewhere.

Free platinum cards? Are they changing this? Currently there is a fee, $175 I believe, for a Platinum AU.
With my annual fee due in March, I have one more year at $2500 but cannot imagine keeping the card at $5000. They will have to add even more benefits. A card between Platinum and Centurion, as is rumoured, could be of interest.

I feel like I have been seeing different versions of the card pop up. With a smoother finish than the textured one. Maybe thats what you are getting.

Aren't those the old style mid-2000s keys?
More on topic however, its funny that they have different designs around the world. One would have thought they'd standardise as they had done for years. Then again UK had its own rebranding (though not the card itself). Agree the German one doesn't look great, so I'm interested to see the new US one in person.....

After receiving my business card, I noticed that now the business card is now using the same customer service phone number as the personal card. The only differences between the business card is it offers the 50 discount redeeming membership rewards and 1.5 rewards on purchases above $5,000. Other than those two benefits the cards are now the same. They also mentioned that additional card members should be receiving the cards by first week of December.

Got an invite, but most benefits I already get with my other cards. The only benefit that stands out is 24/7 concierge, but then again, I can usually get Ritz/W/St. Regis/Conad (you get the idea) concierge to do some amazing things for me too. Unless I'm missing something not really sure it provides benefits I don't already get with my combination of Bonvoy Brilliant, Hilton Aspire, AMEX Platinum, and Chase Sapphire. I don't mind the $5,000 a year fee, but when most of the benefits are given on a $450 a year card, I really don't see the benefits of having a AMEX Black card (apparently except to gloat in FlyerTalk by taking a picture of the card with the keys to my Maserati...)

Funny, the past month or so each time I use my Centurion card I've been thinking it looks dated, especially as compared to my AU wife's AX Platinum.
The new card just arrived and although I wish it was the same weight I think it's beautiful and contemporary. I also like that's it's NFC enabled. I'd rather not put Apple Wallet into the middle of everything I do as they know enough about me already. I'll be tapping with the card where I can as no need to add that cost (Apple's piece) to Amex's cost of business. Not thrilled about the new annual rate which is pushing the boundaries but Equinox is a plus for me and Centurion's customer service is excellent.

My wife received her new card yesterday after getting an email last week saying it was coming. Came via FedEx in a fancy box with the wallet. I'm in two minds about it. It does seem to have a plastic layer on the front which cheapens the feel of it.
For me the back panel is hard to read especially the 3 digits to the right of the signature panel.
Minor issue also is that the chip is indented so the front is not entirely smooth. Also the edges slightly raised and are clearly Silver so when sitting flat it's not entirely Black.
Too bad they didn't follow the lead of the Apple Card and just make a completely Black card with nothing but your name on it. Now that would be cool.
As an aside. Her AU card expired in 2024. Mine expirs 8/20 and I haven't heard anything from them about a replacement for me.
They should learn to look after those that pay the bills
