Lost luggage? Who is to blame? Any tips?

Flew first BA to Singapore and then business on Qantas to Brisbane.

Luggage is somewhere in Singapore. It has been 48hrs now. Problem is I leave in 48hrs.

It is mega annoying as it had my running shoes and all my swimming stuff so I havent done any exercise and had to waste a tonne of time buying clothes when I already have limited time as I have been stuck in meetings.

The issue now now is I have a tonne of stuff / clothes and I need to buy a new suitcase to put it in to go back home.

This is has never happened to me before - I rang Qantas as I assume it is their fault? But it was a BA code share and I booked everything via BA.

I got $100 AUD. But that doesnt exactly get me much.

I assume when when I get home I need to make a claim via my travel insurance??

any tips??

You need to deal with the carrier of your last flight so QF.

Makes no differrnce who you booked with or the flight number it’s the operator that matters.

It is the last delivering carrier, no matter who lost the bag.

Nothing to be done about the waste of time, but you may replace essential items and submit receipts after the fact.

Make certain that QF has your onwards/return address and makes the delivery address change so that your bag wends its way back to you once you leave.

Have you received a missing luggage world tracer tracking number from QF?

Sorry to hear and must have been annoying for you. However, 48 hours I would never consider checking in baggage...

Yeah .. I don't usually .. but this time I couldn't fit everything in my carryon .... but it was actually 96hrs.

Lesson learned .... it is such a pity I hate shopping for clothes.

Qantas will limit your claim to AU$300 maximum, but they will pay this out very rapidly as a credit to a credit card of your choosing. Even though you should be entitled to claim for whatever costs were reasonable during the time you were without your bag, they have a hard cap at 300 that I am currently arguing with them about.
