Travel Waiver: Hurricane Florence 10-17 September, 2018

Is it normal to wait this long before issuing a travel waiver? Seems like the forecast is fairly solid that it will hit NC. I have a trip to Raleigh from Europe on Wednesday and need to start thinking about other plans.

thanks!

If you call an UA agent and give the information on Hurricane Florence forecast, e.g., weather.com, the agent may be able to change your reservation by documenting the information that you provide on your reservation even though there is no weather waiver issued by United yet. You may need to call more than once. Good luck.

I agree. I have no doubt a weather waiver will eventually get issued, but the more proactive you can be, the better off you will be for getting what you want (and also, make sure you know what you want).

I have been communicating with United on Twitter about this, and I only get the standard "We are monitoring the situation, and will communicate with any affected passengers once we issue the waiver". Why wait so long that there are no options for people to choose from? American issued their waiver late Monday morning.

UA follows DL, not AA. Give it time; it's on its way.

AA also has a giant hub in CLT and probably has more urgency in getting ahead of IRROPS.

Based on recent experience, I would expect United to issue a waiver at 7:15 CDT Thursday morning.

Delta has already issued a waiver. DL followed AA by a few hours.

AA's waiver: https://www.aa.com/i18n/travel-info/travel-alerts.jsp

I'm getting a little nervous myself. I have a Saturday noon UA departure from IAD. I'm willing to fly out Friday night if I can get a waiver and beat the brunt of the storm.

OP, I'd say there's a good chance if your flight is early afternoon, you'll still be able to fly into Raleigh.

WAS airports not included in waiver. Sad.

Any reason IAD wasn't part of the waiver? Flying out of IAD on Saturday and I'm worried that my flight will get cancelled, the only solace is that I'm going to CDG and internationals are the last get to cancelled.
