Okay, I guess we now know where the winter DO will be held. And I'll ask Guam Tourist Board for a commission.

I've been there on a family vacation also some years ago. Stayed at Westin I think it was, beaches are beautiful and we had a good time. Rented a car which helps if you want to explore the island though there is not all that much to see.
Japan - Guam is a great mileage ticket. Its used to part of asia 2 for American but they moved it to South pacific. For Oneworld BA is still a good bargain, 20k avios and $65 usd one way in Business. For Star alliance I don't know all the ins and outs but I do know EVA air lists Guam as part of Asia (so its the same miles as for example ICN-TPE is ). There might be other good options out there also.

I was a bit bored last night, so I started browsing through AY's offer pages for different countries and I'm glad I did. NRT was cheapest ex-Italy, and instead of BUD, which I don't like very much, I'm now flying out of MXP and into FCO, spending an enjoyable weekend in both MIL and ROM, all-in for €80 less than BUD would have been. ^ I class to NRT was €2139 which I consider a good price. I had to book over the phone because, unsurprisingly, the website couldn't sell me a ticket this complicated: open jaw from Italy to Japan, with stopovers at HEL both ways.
No extra fees for the phone booking, though. ^
Also booked NRT-GUM on the JAL website. Must have been the longest booking process I've ever seen, but in the end I even managed to select seats both ways on the second try. (I checked award seats via BA, too, but there was little availability. Would have been a bargain at 20.000 Avios return instead of the €514 I now paid for L&S class.)

Yeah, I checked that, too. I'd like to experience QR J again, it was great. I would also not have anything against a night or two in DOH, especially in Feb when it's "cold" there. But I need all the tierpoints I can get so AY 200 % vs QR 125 %, plus of course two complimentary weekends in Italy, was too enticing.

Actually, only 230 % for me since I'll turn Gold 01FEB.
But yeah, AY (6 segments) will give me 48300 whereas QR (4 segments) would only give 31696 points.

I massaged down the price to 1,9k€ BUD-HEL-NGO//ICN-HEL-BUD all on AY metal. Of course there's the TYO-SEL to add to this, but I'd need to be in both places anyway (and also need to get out of and then back to BUD!), so it's quite alright, no "extra" legs.
If I were TP-hungry, the TYO-SEL could be done on JL, but I'll just go with whoever has the best price/timing HND-GMP.

See my edit above - it's NGO, not NRT. NRT would have been higher. But as I have business in the NGO area, I can just as well fly there and later take the shinkansen to Tokyo, rather than the other way round. (NB - Japan Rail Pass, Green car rules!)
NGO is however still in the cartel, so combination is clearly possible. Note, that this is OTA, not AY website, AY just couldn't handle the routing. I-class fare, same PRN & ticket number (105-) Fare Basis ITSEU1

Green car rules of course, but JR pass excludes some of the trains. :-(
