AJC Article About ATL
First off how old is this file picture they used? (see Airtran)
With that said this must be heavily photo shopped because a) how could you possibly get buildings in midtown/downtown to look that close to Hartsfield and b) they are not even in the right order.
Thought it was a good Sunday funny for us DL flyers.

And that's probably not shopped at all, not in the way you think (of course they adjusted color, contrast, etc). I've take similar pics from the concourse A centerpoint club. Perspective compression is a thing. Your brain doesn't quite process the image the same way coming from your eye.

I'd wager $1,000 that it's not photoshopped. Certain types of lenses can make things look drastically different than how it's processed in person.

Did you even look at 2nd photo? Those buildings can't bee seen the direction based on location. Plus buildings are missing that should be in front of the 4.

You are all correct, IMHO.
PVN and JRK are correct about the way lenses and depth of field can make things look quite different in photographs. But I also think some digital adjustment has taken place. I can't see a vantage point where you would see only the very tops of those skyscrapers that's still this high above ground. The background seems rather a worms-eye view.

probably used a 400mm, 600mm or a 100mm mirror lens,
for those lenses an F stop above F11 should work out fine.
You would be amazed at what those lenses can do

AJC photo looks to be from south of airport with terminal A obscuring the hotels. The second photo looks to possibly be from one of the terminals and thus hotels can be seen in the foreground (La Quinta, Staybridge Suites, and the top of the Doubletree).

I amend my previous post. I think the AJC photo and the one above are pretty clearly overlooking concourse D. In AJC photo, there was some construction going on. The photo in the 4th post above was likely taken from concourse B.
