I applied for renewal April 24. Still no word.
What i think the issue is, is that people hear that it takes so long that they're all applying early, gumming up the system.
A lady I know has hers expiring in November and she's already applied, which then pushes back anyone who may apply now hoping to get it in even just two months.
What is really annoying too is the Canadian government site that tells you of the 'estimated wait times' still says 20 days, and hasn't been updated since April....so they have no idea.
Hopefully its only another week for me. My card expires this coming Sunday.
I did read that you can use an expired card for 6 months if your application is pending though.

remember that as a can citizen, the issuing authority is usa. so perhaps the 20 days applies to usa citizens whose issuing authority is can. and of course very very few usa citizens go for nexus so it's likely those processing times are way thinner. but that's also conjecture.other than the data points provided by ftalkers, this entire thread is conjecture.
sadly i learned this too late, ~70 days before expiry, but hey it seems like the process seems to be in 40-60 day period so may the bureaucratic lords smile down

Approved today (June 22) for renewal, with no interview required. 60 days from my April 23 application. It doesn't seem these are batched to run through at night. I checked around 9:00 a.m. this morning and nothing. Then received an e-mail an hour later informing me of the status change.

On renewal you may or may not be selected for an interview. If you submit a renewal application before expiration of your current membership, then you can continue to use your benefits until the renewal is finalized (up to 6 months after your expiration date).

Good Morning,
I was unaware of the processing times, and applied for a renewal on May 4, 2018. I spoke with a Nexus person yesterday, who advised that 10-12 weeks for renewal is the norm. According to the person I spoke to from the Vancouver office, the US processed their portion on May 8, 2018, and the rest of the time was the Canadian portion.
It was confirmed that use of the card after the expiry date is permissible, but that one should have a copy of their payment receipt and printout of the screenshot showing the renewal has been applied for.
Coincidentally, I received notification of my approval today...

NEXUS is different
This seems to be right on the 6 months after expiring if you renewed prior to expiration.
see https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/det...YnBqVlk1UW4%3D
see https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/det...YnBqVlk1UW4%3D
The nice news from NEXUS is that it is unlikely to require an interview
https://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/prog/nexus/new-nouvel-eng.html
" Please note that a streamlined renewal process is now in place. It is no longer necessary for the majority of renewing members who have not had changes to their information and have maintained their low-risk status to attend an interview. NEXUS members are encouraged to renew their membership online through the Trusted Traveler Programs (TTP) System."

Good morning all,
Curious if anyone else is seeing delays? I applied for nexus renewal for my minor child on May 16, and the status is still at Pending Review. Almost 2 months!
I had renewed my own last year in Dec and was approved in just over a month.

The return address for my letter with the card is Washington, DC. AFAIK, the cards are all printed in the US. Since you are in Vancouver, that probably accounts for the longer wait time.

Two months still pending review is totally normal right now. I applied for Nexus renewal the last week of April and received approval with no interview required the first week of July. So for me it was nine weeks for approval and an additional one week wait to receive the card in the mail.

Mine went fast! I dropped my application in the mailbox (from Western Canada) on July 1, so I suppose it went out July 2, got the charge on my card on July 11, and I checked today (July 16) and noticed that my renewal has been approved!

Applied: May 5, 2018
Conditional approval received: July 6, 2018
Interview held: July 9, 2018 (got a cancellation spot in Canada so I didn't have to drive across the border. Was able to reschedule - have to provide a reason when you reschedule the interview)
Duration: 63 days
Card received: July 18, 2018
Mailing time: 9 days
Best time to renew: 364 days before your Nexus expires (I agree with the above recommendations!)

Got approval today, 7/23. Over 2 months to process; double the number of days to approval from my process in Nov 2017. Second kid is 46 days and pending.

My renewal took 9 weeks. Card arrived about 10 days later. Made the mistake of thinking all border officers would be familiar with the “valid for six months after expiration date if renewal submitted before expiry” rule. My advice, don’t try it and just renew early!

It seems like the recommendation is to renew NEXUS as early as possible?
NEXUS expiry: 1 August 2019
Submit for NEXUS renewal: 1 or 2 August 2018
Approval for NEXUS renewal: 20 November 2018 (let's assumed as such)
Will the new 5 years NEXUS clock begins on 20 November 2018, or will it begin on 2 August 2019? In other words, do i lose "some days or months" from previous 5 years validity if I apply and got approved too early?
